Horncastle/Athletic:

Manchester City have contacted AC Milan to express interest in signing Tijjani Reijnders. Talks at early stage + no formal offer yet but #MCFC hope agreement will be reached to buy 26yo #ACMilan midfielder this summer.

Apparently, Wirtz’s camp also met with Pep today.

And by September whatever state they’re in they’d still be Spurs’ best CB pairing.

I think Man United sold them this guy for peanuts last summer, though there was probably some clause included in the deal. A year later, they flip him to Real Madrid of all clubs for 50 million euros.

They beat out interests from lots of clubs to sign him. He was one of their best players in their various youth sides from U18 through to reserves/U23 as a 17 year old and despite having no recognized and fit LBs on the books saw fit that his loan deal with Porto should include an obligation to buy if he did well there, with a clause requiring a purchase fee of only peanuts. All this without giving him a single opportunity with the first team. A year and half later he’s a Real Madrid player and will be expected to play the majority of their games.

Absolutely circus of a club.

To be fair, is there not the possibility that he forced his way out?

Although then again, that would probably be because it’s a circus of a club.

Tom Werner has got Liverpool fans excited with his comments.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has vowed to build an ‘even better’ squad next season and has revealed that they’re ‘already busy’ in the transfer market. Werner, who’s also chairman of the Boston Red Sox, was at Anfield on Sunday to watch the Reds lift the Premier League trophy.

It was a remarkable title-winning season, despite manager Arne Slot only adding one player to the squad which he inherited from legendary boss Jurgen Klopp. But this summer will be different, with Liverpool already heavily linked with two players.

Bayer Leverkusen duo Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, who look set to cost more than £100million combined, are in talks to join the Reds. Slot has remained tight-lipped on Liverpool’s transfer business but Werner has offered more of a clear hint on their renewed ambitions.

“It’s already busy,” the Anfield chief said. “We go again. It never gets old, winning. We owe it to all of our supporters to bring back a team even better next season.”

Werner, 75, also paid tribute to the ‘extraordinary’ Slot after his stellar first season in charge. “We obviously had high hopes for this season but he has been an extraordinary coach,” he added.

Wasn’t he the one who was too loose-lipped about van Dijk?

A swoop? That is bold swooping this early before the window slams shut.

They’re going to be very disappointed when both players just laugh in their faces.

Any player who joins United at the moment is only doing it for one reason: money.

That may be true about Manchester United, but the article referenced Newcastle United, a totally different United from the one you normally think of.

Newcastle would be smart to sign a few forwards and a couple midfielders this summer. They fucked up last time they got into the CL, need to learn from their mistakes.

That’s an interesting one. In a disappointing Milan team he had a breakout year finally having the sort of impact people were expecting of him when big clubs were trying to sign him from AZ
