Sweeting's Ones To Watch - 2023/2024

So after many, many hours of compiling all my reports and previous years and filing into a nice website and feeling like I was on top of things… its all gone.

I got a notification from Google saying my drive was nearly full so I told it to delete large files. I didnt realise my Google Sheets were considered large files :face_with_peeking_eye:

Just in case anyone on the off chance was trying to look back at anything I posted, well yeah that’s what happened. Currently debating rebuilding it but also lacking motivation currently so will probably not bother.

That must be incredibly frustrating.

Sorry to hear pal

Damn, that sucks, sorry @Sweeting :pensive:

Maybe just start afresh from next season? I always look forward to your reviews of youth prospects, would hate to lose them altogether.

Arrghh… :see_no_evil: feeling sorry for all the hard work you put in this, mate. Didn’t you create a back-up file or something?

Surely you aren’t going to give up!!! Mentality Monsters

I’ll still make the prospects list - and as far as I’m aware the “website” that lists my picks is still available so that at least lives on.

I just lost the data element with all the google sheets. Its definitely possible to rebuild but with me now on deployment with the Air Force and still working my civilian job in my downtime then I am not excited about using my little remaining free time to create spreadsheets!

Ah well, we will see. No doubt in a few days I’ll find myself opening Google Sheets again

I so wish I had made a copy in my google.

Is this maybe crawled by way back machine? Wayback Machine

EDIT: seems like it doesn’t.

this makes me so sad, and had furthered my emphasis on the value of external storage.

Currently sat in a pub chatting to an Arsenal fan about academy prospects and your database came for its decent track record. Sorry to hear it got deleted by google.

Did you start it up again?

I believe it is gone. Right now I’m working on a new and completely insane/stupid project where I’m trying to scout everyone in U21 football and give a rating of them and their future prospects by the time they “age out” into senior football.

For Arsenal I happen to have saved the list of players I picked as One’s to Watch including my picks for this season (two of whom have already left Arsenal!)

2019/2020 Saka Bukayo Winger Arsenal
2019/2020 Willock Joe Centre Midfielder Arsenal
2019/2020 Nketiah Eddie Centre Forward Arsenal
2020/2021 Balogun Folarin Centre Forward Arsenal
2020/2021 Smith Rowe Emile Attacking Midfielder Arsenal
2020/2021 Nelson Reiss Winger Arsenal
2021/2022 Lopez Joel Left Back Arsenal
2021/2022 Azeez Miguel Centre Midfielder Arsenal
2021/2022 Taylor-Hart Kido Winger Arsenal
2022/2023 Patino Charlie Centre Midfielder Arsenal
2022/2023 Hutchinson Omari Attacking Midfielder Arsenal
2022/2023 Biereth Mika Centre Forward Arsenal
2023/2024 Nwaneri Ethan Attacking Midfielder Arsenal
2023/2024 Cozier-Duberry Amario Winger Arsenal
2023/2024 Walters Reuell Right Back Arsenal
2024/2025 Lewis-Skelly Miles Centre Midfielder Arsenal
2024/2025 Heaven Ayden Centre Back Arsenal
2024/2025 Obi-Martin Chido Centre Forward Arsenal

For 2025/2026 Max Dowman is the obvious pick. He’s playing U18 football as a 15-year-old and is still consistently the best player on the pitch. I don’t like picking GKs but Jack Porter is 16 and has already played in the Arsenal first team. Finally I’d probably highlight Marli Salmon, regularly starting U21 games at 15 years old as a CB, looks a better prospect than Ayden Heaven at the same age (Heaven has just moved to Man Utd).

My new project is here…

I’m still working on the formatting but basically it’s a list of every U21 player at a Cat 1 or Cat 2 academy that has played U18s or higher this season. Goal is to eventually give each player a basic grade for each skill (tab 2 shows the prototype for this) and an estimate of their future best-case-scenario prospects. Objective of the prospect is to give a bit of a quick reference for people to generally understand the playing style, strengths and weaknesses of a player.

How do you watch them all from the US?

LFCtv subscription gets me most of Liverpool’s games. A lot of other club will post up highlights or full games for free, quite a few games get streamed through youtube. Can’t find it for every game of course so just have to go on what I can find.
