TAN footy game - Last Man Standing

That’s the risk - my friend said in his office half the people went for Chelsea to beat West Brom and the other half went for City to beat Leicester… so that tourney was over pretty quickly!

Wolves to beat Fulham for me

None of the bold ones selected till now for win. Interesting.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace
Everton v Brighton
Leeds v Man City
Newcastle v Burnley
Leicester v West Ham
Southampton v West Brom
Arsenal v Sheffield United
Wolves v Fulham
Man U v Spurs
Villa v Liverpool

So, I looked it up. Turns out they’ve won 4 or more games in a row twice in the last 14 years. Last time was exactly four years ago in September 2016 (West Brom, Stoke, Sunderland, Middlesbrough before losing to Bournemouth) but the time before that was in the final third of the 13/14 season where they won 8 in a row. Everton! Yeh, couldn’t believe it. Season DVD must have seen phenomenal sales that year. They finished 5th.

I feel you kind of have to take a couple of risks early on so that you can call on the bigger guns later on. I might have a look at the fixtures later on and try and ‘plot’ a way through them. Will there be a rule about how often you can choose Fulham’s opponents?

No, I figure they’ll have to at least draw eventually, right? :grimacing:

What happens when one of you cheats and copies every one of my picks?

Nothing in the op that answers my concern. Or what about someone creating 20 accounts, like assielad1, etc, etc (Typical Aussies)! I need clarification. Winning this is a major accomplishment, so cheating is a major concern.

EDIT: ok, I get what you implying. I’m personally above those tactics.

Aussies can’t count that high.

Yup, I’ll keep it open until, say, kick-off of the first match of the round.

Stick me down for Southampton.

We play this in our office as well, it’s a decent game, fiver a man and I have been lucky to win it a few times.

We also include Championship games but you dont have to, it can go on for 15-20 weeks with 2 leagues.

You need a ruling on postponed games as that caught us out once, if a game gets called of do players get a bye or are they eliminated?

Winners need to be checked at the end same as bingo to make sure they haven’t picked a team twice, we had one sneaky cunt try that trick, can imagine this place is full of em :joy:

With cash involved if you had two left at the end if they both got knocked out the cash used to rollover to the next game and everyone would pay in again, leads to some juicy pots

Of course we can…

When we are wearing thongs - or flip flops as the rest of the world weirdly prefer to call them

Not sure I want to see anybody here in what we call a thong… :flushed:

I’m going to say postponed games are a bye, and hopefully by keeping track of teams in the OP I’ll be able to ensure different teams are picked each time.

@ZinedineBiscan, do you want some help with this in terms of doing a spreadsheet and keeping track of picks?

It’s your baby and you run it, but I do run the work one so I am prepared to help out if you need me in keeping track of picks if you want me to and posting an image before each week and after the results have hit.

I genuinely am a massive jobsworth, who has nothing better to do, providing we have a cut off that means I can do it on works time of course, otherwise I’m not interested

Let me know if you want a wingman
