Well then, let’s. If you cannot see how the above is more than a little aggressive then you have a bit of a problem. Again, this is coming from someone who uses such language as a matter of course quite willingly and often myself. The problem is that your opinion, while quite valid, often devolves into an aggressive tirade against those who not share that opinion which then ends with the muse that people should be more reasonable. I mean…

So while the mod team, and yourself, might feel different, were you not indeed a mod quite a bit of your posting style could be viewed as unnecessarily aggressive, arrogant and confrontational. So I’m sorry if you feel you’re being held to higher standard because frankly you are, and so you should be. It’s like what divides ‘us’ from ‘them’. If ‘us’ is behaving the same as ‘them’ then how exactly is order supposed to be kept in a way that does not rankle? I’m not a mod and I don’t expect my sometimes admittedly confrontational and rather dismissive style to be replicated by one because then what incentive do I have to rein myself in?

We made a conscious decision on this forum to go very light on moderation and let things sort themselves out.

If I was going round slapping and banning people every other day, you’d have a point. But we don’t. People have to go to extreme lengths to get themselves sanctioned let alone banned.

We’re more like janitors than moderators. All we do is move posts around, tidy up off topic posts and delete spam. I think the issue is that you have a version of moderation in your head that doesn’t exist, and why just about the most nauseatingly irritating thing anyone can say to me is ‘…as a mod you should know better than to….’

If I’m expected to ‘hold higher standards as a mod’ then is it too much to ask you to hold a high standard based on your username?

You chose that name based on our anthem. There is a sentiment to that song that you have perhaps missed.

When you walk through a storm hold your head up high, and call a manager who won the league title a few months ago and then had to guide the squad through an awful tragedy a bald headed waste of space…

Is that a second verse I’m unfamiliar with?

@YoullNeverWalkAlone

I see from the Slot thread, you’ve taken @Hope.in.your.heart’s moderation decision with dignity and understanding.

Personal responsibility perhaps? This isn’t primary school

I deleted your comment. What reaction did you hope to get?

@Hope.in.your.heart is a really reasonable guy, but you are going to end up talking yourself into a ban over a bit of mild moderation you didn’t agree with.

Can you not see why calling someone a cunt, (purely with the intention of poking a moderator by the way), is a bit more actionable that someone calling you a muppet?

I remember back on TIA arguing with a mod decision was an automatic point. I wish we could go back to back to that.

In fiarness, being called a muppet is far different to being called a cunt.

Cunt is quite a common word in Australia, but if you walked into a pub anywhere in Aus and started calling people cunts, you would very quickly cop a punch in the mouth.

Calling someone a muppet on the other hand willl maybe start a bit of verbal sparring but unless escelated with more cutting insults will not likely turn violent.

Does it really matter that much?

He called you a muppet because you called the manager a bald head waste of space, and said you want him sacked right now.

Honestly, ‘muppet’ is getting off lightly.

You don’t care about being banned, but you are going to have a two day moan about someone calling you muppet?

Calling someone a Muppet is on a level of twit or fool. It’s rude, but hardly filled with hate.

I’ve never understood why it’s an insult anyway. I rather like the Muppets. OK, Animal is a bit unhinged, but we all have a pal like that.

Honestly, just take a back seat and chill. Nothing against what you feel but you are not going to get anywhere and this is an internet forum, just relax, don’t let it affect you. Do I think some of the mods decisions are ridiculous and reflects their bias? Yes I think so but on whole, mods will never please everyone so its better to just leave them to do their jobs.

Maybe Miss Piggy did something unpleasant to him, and he finds the association upsetting.

They are at totally different levels though. And plenty of us have been called on on here acting a muppet - no one has ever kicked off about it and accepted that they had been acting foolishly and deserved to be called out for it. But to call someone a cunt with the aggressive tone that you used, it was always going to draw the attention of the mod team.

Didn’t he call you a M****t last night? If it was today, I apologise.

I am actually a mod of a wild life forum so no, it’s not just in my head and no, being a mod is not some esoteric mystery that only a few can understand with vagaries beyond normal comprehension and I’m sorry but you should know better. That’s not hard to comprehend.

I think that was the intention, and a bigger reason why it was removed.
