There could be confirmation bias at play, but I just read comments from Arteta about Jan signings and cringed.
He claims they need signings (bad message to give to existing players), is talking to his players about it (see previous), and is eager to get away from data because he needs to know…[insert series of clichés].

Regarding the sending off, something I posted as a facebook comment
"I actually disagree, there is no attempt to play the ball he is just kicking an opponent, this type of cynical foul should be stamped out.
He has basically kicked him off the ball and should be treated the same.
The wrong in this is that all fouls like this should be treated the same, but they haven’t been and that’s where I can understand Arsenal’s ire"

I saw Alan Shearer describe is as one of the worst decisions he’s ever seen and was expecting something awful from the referee but, while I think it’s a bit soft, getting those cynical tackles out of the game has been something everyone has been crying out for since Fernandinho made a career out of it.
He made no attempt to get the ball and every attempt to bring the attacker down. Lots of players have gotten away with it before but I think that’s not a bad think to see reds given there all things considered.
