The Arsenal Thread (Part 1)

It wasn’t given for being cynical though, and it would have been outrageous to give a straight red for that there. It was given for the nature of the challenge

Yes I mean cynical in the sense that it was intentionally getting the player, rather than cynical for stopping an attack. Fernandinho of course would combine these in the same tackle but I think players can’t really complain about being sent off when they make absolutely no effort to play the ball and intentionally scythe down a player.

I guess they call it a flagrant foul in basketball?

I am not sure the red card is soft. Yes the player did not suffer a huge injury. Yes maybe he was trying to genuinely get the ball but he did put his boots on top of someone’s foot, that’s a dangerous tackle and while it can get interpreted either way, but there is no complaint.

If that’s the craziest decision ever what is the yellow for the MMA move in our match?

Deserved red card.

Petulant twat lashing out knowing that the opposing player got ahead of him.

Agree, to me it is exactly the same as kicking a player when the ball isn’t there as there is no attempt to playong the ball, he is just kicking him.

IMO no different when Beckham got sent off for England against the Argies and far more forceful and more chance of an injury.

Genuinely trying to play the ball, you have to be kidding, no attempt whatsoever it was a cynical kick at a player and he knew what he was doing.

Did not see the foul and couldn’t care less tbh.

Remember, pundits and all are trying to keep the title race alive for as long as possible and with their comments they are putting pressure on the officials to not make decisions against Arsenal in the coming weeks.

They want 1989 replayed in Anfield in May.

It can’t be, as there are two more league games each after that.

I know, but if Arsenal are close enough to Liverpool at the time they will revisit that game a thousand times

As long as they put the 89 title up I’d be happy with that wager.

Shearer is an arsehole is more appropriate.

After next weekend there is every chance City will be Arsenals closet challenger out of both.

Arsenal have had the better results against Man City in the last three games, though - and it was well before City’s meltdown. I’d definitely like them to play out a draw but I think Arsenal have the edge because of their defensive record.

I definitely prefer a City win.

Pity they can’t both lose. A draw is the next best thing.
