He wasn’t bad in general. I felt. But they had to let him move for free with an year still existing on his contract.
From what i remember Arsenal were ireportedly trying to sign him early last summer before we did. He didnt want to leave his club so they did a deal for his team mate instead. That’s part of the reason his club fought so hard to keep Zubimendi - they didnt want to lose both players that window.
Wasn’t it the season before they and Spurs were after him?
To be honest, this is the kind of jibe that used to be thrown at us until 2020.

I don’t mind arsenal winning a league in the future (after we’ve won more than our fair share). As long as the cunt Arteta isn’t the one managing them.

Wonder how much that chart changes if you remove both their first seasons.
I’m actually surprised they are as close as that as I think people forget now how well Spurs did, relative for them, under him. 5th, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, before being let go 10 games or so into his 6th season.

He should have won the league during the Leicester season. Every other team were crap.
Amazingly, that was one of the years they came 3rd despite the title being a 2 horse race

And w.r.t the comparision with Arteta and Poch , should be taken into consideration that Poch inherited a weaker squad , didn’t get too much support in transfers.
Arteta got the full support from arsenal board and still hasn’t done anything that much better than Poch

I dont think he did. Arsenal had fallen a long way by the time he came. Both Poch and Arteta took over sides that had finished 6th the season before, but Arteta took over midway through the season a side that fallen into the bottom half and with some of the bad moves they’d made in the previous 2 years were going in the wrong direction quickly.
Arteta was allowed to make the ruthless changes.
Letting Ozil leave etc etc.
Levy operated Tottenham in almost a miserly way.

Arteta has a net spend of 500m over his arsenal career so far.
And it would look even worse had their academy not been producing the likes of Saka , Nwaneri , Lewis Skelly.
Also his net spend doesn’t include crucial players like Saliba (bought during Emery) and Martinelli.
And not to mention the other arsenal youth recruits who were sold like Smith Rowe, nketiah , willock.
