Funniest thing about this is that arsenal started crumbling after Arteta said “over my dead body” 3 wins in the next 10 PL games. So it’s rather fair to say that they bottled the league.

There was a comment on Twitter who gets paid more by Arsenal Arteta and deflection agent Don Robbie.

You can only bottle something if you had your hands on it and it slips from your grasp.

Arsenal did not bottle the league, as they were never in control of it: we were.

Arsenal have never sat top of the league this season not even for half a day.

I wasn’t aware of that. I read that we went top on 2nd November and didn’t relinquish the lead after that, but I didn’t realise that Gunners weren’t even top in the early exchanges.

Makes any talk of them “bottling” it even more risible.

Whatever way the media want to portray us for this season… We have been relentless in our pursuit of the PL crown… Simples

Wasn’t it AFC Bournmouth that was technically top?

I think City’s collapse probably plays a part in this as it is easy to forget how points wise, they had a strong start to the season only dropping their first points in late September (draws against Arsenal and Newcastle) before going into October picking up more wins. while Arsenal drew against Brighton in their third game and then from late September never really got a big run in the league without dropping points - for example they then lost to Bournemouth going into October and drew against us before dropping points to Newcastle and Chelsea in early November.

We’d been top from as early as late September, relinquished top spot to City after our 2-2 draw with Arsenal in late Oct, but it got the lead back the following week and never gave it back.

We’re going to end up having been top at the end of 32 of 38 “match weeks”

I think we lost the title that weekend.

I remember one of the talking heads saying we had thrown it away.

The only way it makes sense to me at the moment is that they’ve bottled it from the perspective that they should have been the natural beneficiaries from a City collapse.

It just reeks of entitlement, which is odd seeing they haven’t won the league in twenty years.

The entitlement that they feel they should be walking the league once City had their fall off. Hasn’t happened.
They’ve spent loads of money and have the delusion that they are the best team in the league.

When the ((self)annointed best team doesn’t win the league, it’s called choking or bottling up. When they choke doesn’t matter.
