The Arsenal Thread (Part 1)

The idea of Arsenal having to adapt to a totally different sort of player in Gyokeres and then abruptly change course by Merino now being his replacement is amazing stuff.

Could SandCastle field a cheeky Isak bit from the low spending LegoMan?

Thats ALREADY the joke. It’s 3 posts above yours

I assume they would have tried to engage him with a Saudi move.

Arsenal now apparently going for Eze from Palace due to Havertz injury, Spurs fans are understandably taking this news extremely well and being most complimentary towards Daniel Levy

Every signing they make is greeted by some explanation on how this is another step to their manifest destiny of CL and PL glory.

It’s getting somewhat tiresome and the analysis around them is appalling. I will stand by my prediction that their best chance was last season.

Last weekend was a performance out of last season, gifted a point by a goalie error. That kind of luck doesn’t show up every weekend. They need something more.

Eze will probably be a very good signing for them. They’ve gotten lucky with the Havertz injury.
Hopefully this doesn’t make it harder to get Guehi.

If Arteta doesn’t win a trophy this year, the fanbase will spontaneously combust.

I hope he wins the lesser domestic cup so that he gets a stay on his execution. He needs to stay longer in the arsenal team because a competent coach can have them competing in next to no time with the team thats been assembled

Arteta is six seasons at Arsenal, with an FA Cup to his name. After spending a fortune.
If he was Liverpool manager we would be rightly dissapointed, and I doubt he would still be here.
The fans in the stadium seem to support him though, its very different to the last days of Wenger. Online its different. They want him out.
The trouble is, if they sack him is there another manager that would win stuff with that squad? And if that manager exists (Klopp, Ancelloti) would they consider going there?

Not sure if they really need Eze, though with time, he might maybe become a starter on the left, as they don’t have an outstanding option there (Martinelli has stagnated).

The double false #9’s is also an option. But happy for Eze from the moving to a top club point of view, I was wondering if he would achieve that. Was possibly my favourite player outside the big 6.

Rodgers winning the fa cup with Leicester, glasner winning that with palace are bigger success stories than arteta winning with arsenal.

There will always be good coaches around. Think of what a iraola will do with this arsenal team.

For all his crying, the squad depth they have is pretty wild.

Midfielders - Odegaard, Norgaard, Fabio Viera, Nwaneri, Merino, Zubimendi, Rice
Forwaeds - Saka, Jesus, Martinelli, Gyokeres, Trossard, Madueke, Haverts, and Eze (if he signs).

Some still might leave (and they have a few injuries), but yeah, their depth is quality this season. Quality in certain spots in their XI remain under question. But it’s well balanced, without being too large.

When you split it into two XI’s, it’s more or less…

Raya
White Saliba Gabriel Miles
Zubimendi Rice
Saka Odegaard Eze
Gyokeres

Kepa
Timber Mosquera Kiwior Calafiori
Norgaard Merino
Madueke Nwaneri Martinelli
Havertz

Yeah, I really rate him, and think it’s only a matter of time before he moves to a big club.

They’ve got another young kid coming through the academy as well.

Haven’t most teams.

Sure. But someone who’s supposedly had a very good preseason. Max Dowman.

Arsenal for all their transfers do produce academy graduates through as well. Arteta’s plight would be much worse if he hadn’t the likes of Saka / Skelly / Nwaneri coming through from their academy.

It’s almost the point as to why they want to invest in further defensive midfielders when they’ve got Skelly being played off position.

Yeah it was always about the injuries rather than the squad itself. It looked a LOT stronger last week, but now already have Havertz out, no return date for Jesus yet and Califiori and Timber, two players whose adaptability was key in the strength they thought their squad had, having ongoing concerns about their ability to stay fit and play regularly. They are not far away from getting to a place where they are complaining again.

Ok Max Dowman is going achieve their manifest destiny.

But Rio is really raw and not allowed to see two minutes of a Liverpool match.

Max is 15… Rio is 16 as I said clubs have good academies we are making lots of money off ours and will continue to do so even if the lads don’t break through. Max Dowman will not play a single PL game for probably 2-3 seasons unless it’s a dead rubber.

Also laugh all you want it’s true, this board is getting tiresome. Apparently we are shit have no options and yet everyone else is on the up. And that’s been the case for an entire year and a half one in which we won the title.

You can talk about how you’ll win till the cows come home but you have to do it. So far they’ve failed.
