The Arsenal Thread (Part 1)

There was also a conflict in Colorado where he owned the local broadcast rights to the games of the local teams he also owned in the NHL and NBA and shut the locals out of being able to watch due to a pay dispute with the cable companies.

Few owners have done more to show open contempt for the people of the community where his clubs are located.

EDIT: I should have read the very next post before I responded. Classic signs of premature ejaculation.

I think one of the main issue is that he moved the rams from St. Louis to Los Angeles, it would be like G&H moving Liverpool to London. I don’t get the moving from one area to the other, it cant be that financially beneficial when there is already so much TV revenue involved?

It wasn’t just the move…he used the major league playbook to gut the organization hoping their resultant sporting ineptitude would make the fan stop caring and make it easier for him to move them out of town. The problem is they just never stopped showing up and supporting them despite how terrible a team he turned them into.

There are quite a few things I don’t like about American sports.

The #1 has to be the franchise aspect model of that. How can anyone shift the entire franchise and the history of that to another city ?
It’s like the whole Wimbledon shit. Never set right with me.

Still think the Glazers are worse. they paid themselves dividends while letting the club rot.

If your first selection is their best team, Odegaard isn’t near good enough. Nwaneri is a much better player.

I don’t particularly follow American sport, but when every team is called a franchise, rather than a club it begs the question how tied to the local community are they?

And when you look through history, a huge muber of teams have moved cities so it seems to be a fairly common route once all the money has been squeezed from an area, the owner packs up and moves to a new area for new fans they can milk the bank accounts of, along with tv rights and sponsors.

Yes, it is a shitty act, but the US has shown historically that they are ok with it.

I am looking purely from the job done within each of their ownership records once entered into the UK sports scene, and whilst Kronke has not been goof at Arsenal, he is far from the worst AMerican owner

That’s not the only reason. I can’t be arsed settling in for ninety minute of watch my team try to win a corner.

I know this is the Arsenal thread but I have to derail it for a moment - Man City last won a trophy last year. This is absolutely insane. That said, I’d like to see the net spend comparison between Arteta and Guardiola.

Oi, you watching? He’s on the bench today

If you go by the prices City have stated , wouldn’t be surprised if City’s net spend is better than Arsenal’s net spend.

Eze is a good signing from a purely sporting perspective. But…it’s a lot of money for a 27 year old forward. That it’s not an isolated decision either given Gyokeres. These are signings we just wouldn’t make. If they win the league they may be vindicated but that is now the bar.

After getting their set piece goal, brave Arsenal then started to try to play some football at home against newly promoted Leeds. Another set piece goal was added, plus two open play goals.

Well done!

(Yes, I really dislike them these days).

Dowman looks confident for a youngster, couple of shots so far and he is showing for the ball.

I was wrong. Won’t say another word about them.

It was Leeds

More about their young starlet getting near the field.

Penalties mean nothing to me regarding Gyokeres, he will outscore Hugo if he is taking them and they can buffer any ordinary strikers output.

Unless they are doing it alongside a penalties like Salah.

Nobody’s laughing now!

  1. Gyökeres is scoring a goal a game, will smash the PL scoring record at this pace.
  2. They have a 12 year old terrorizing defenses.
  3. Saka has remained injury free for the season.
  4. +6 goal difference.
  5. Destroyed Man U at OT.
  6. Demolished last years champions.
  7. 100% record.
  8. 0 Goals against.
  9. Top of the league, OBVIOUSLY.
  10. Most goals scored.
  11. The best hair in the PL.
  12. We only got half their points.

Yep. The joke’s very much on the rest of the league now. The last 22 years have finally taken it’s toll. If Utd and Leeds can’t stop them, who the fuck can?
