Aside from finishing second (with a gap) to city, what have they done?
Prior to winning the league we’d broken 90 points twice (including the highest ever points total for a runner up) and won the European Cup. We looked every inch champion material prior to the 19/20 season.
They’ve got nothing like that in their locker. They were always extremely vulnerable to us, or Chelsea, or someone else getting their act together and overtaking them.
They acted like they were anointed. That was never the case.
I’ve got to got to Holland for a kids football exchange trip over the weekend of the 5th and 6th April. So I absolutely guarantee that we win it that weekend. Nailed on.
Funny thing is the online Arsenal fans (trolls) are all posting memes about how PSV beat us recently, yet Arsenal just smashed them - so that makes them better and us lucky somehow.
I’d actually quite like to see them get past the Madrid’s and end up against us in a semi final. The last time we had a CL knock out tie with them it was a roller coaster, with us ending up on top.
We beat Newcastle and drew and they’ve lost 3 times.
If that’s how it works, it doesn’t and our team that night wasn’t much better than the side we put out against Accrington.
Of course if they win the league then they are, if we do then we are. A 7-1 against PSV after two games without a goal that’s seriously hampered your title challenge does nothing.
Let’s be frankly honest I’m delighted they knocked 7 in against PSV rather than knocking any in against WHU or Forest. They can knock another 7 in next week in the return leg if they fail to score against MU and/or Chelsea for all I care.
They found their scoring boots. If they were able to spread the goals out they would have amassed more Premier League points and be breathing down our neck. But they have spluttered along lately, although against PSV the goals freely flowed.
Whether the overall tie ends 2-1 or 12-1, Arsenal advance. There will be much better sides for them to overcome in the CL, and they aren’t going to win it. And back in the Prem, where lots of sides are better than PSV, Arsenal have been struggling to score.
Anyway, well done Gunners. You had a good night. But you won’t win the CL or the Prem.
