The Arsenal Thread

Sounds pleasant.

Nah.

I want them to fluke their way past whichever Madrid side they face, so that we can batter them in the semi finals.

I can accept beating them 3 times in a couple of weeks!!

No way Arsenal are getting past one of the Madrid teams.

They should pray that it will be Real because after Atletico is done with them they will have more injuries than they had all season.

They keep moaning about how injuries are the only reason we’re winning the league, yet we’re on course to easily get well north of 90 points. Arsenal have managed 90 points once ever in their history.

How young is this person if they think email started with Gmail?

Or posting things online started with Facebook?

Heck, even TIA came before either of those… (or Harvey Elliott but I’m digressing)

How about

The typewriter was invented in 1868
The telephone was invented in 1876
Writing was invented approximately 5000 years ago.

So no Arsenal supporter has ever typed, phoned or written

“We are Champions of Europe.”

They can soon email, post, tweet, type, phone and write “we are back-to-back-to-back triple runners-up to the Champions of England”.
Thriiiccceee!!!

Not really. There’s still 10 games left – anything can happen. There’s plenty of time yet for them to emulate their favourite neighbours’ 2015-16 season.

Possible but not probable.

Forest is just 4 points behind them.

I hope Forest won’t be able to deny them the honor of being triple serial Specialist in Failure (to win the Premiership by the skin of the teeth).

When did the Arse last won the league title?
21 years… …and counting.
Granted our wait was longer but inbetween the 3 decades, we got Ol’ Big Ears, twice. :grinning: :grinning:

Still plenty of games to go.

But it’s only Man Utd getting up to two decades plus I am interested in.

I did find it odd some pundit suggesting they need to consider they may be dragged into a top 4 battle.

Like Arsenal should stop chasing us and chase points to stay in the top 4. Like that’s not one and the same thing.

It would be insane if they were drop out of the top 5 - but unless they find goals from somewhere it’s not unimaginable.

It would need Chelsea and Man City/Brighton/Villa/Bournemouth to put together good runs though.

If Arsenal lose against Chelsea they might start panicking.

They have a run of games at the end of the season - Bournemouth at home, Liverpool away, Newcastle home - they really don’t want to go into that run desperate for points with their lack of goalscoring at the moment.

This is an interesting piece on the new guy at Arsenal

It’s behind a paywall so some of the key points are:

  • believed to have been chosen over their internal candidate due to a “win now” willing to rock the boat attitude.
  • That indicates a growing sense of anxiety over Arteta’s window of opportunity to win stuff
  • It also raises the likelihood of a lack of continuity in his ideas with what the internal candidate had been doing in the interim. At this stage in a season plans for the summer would ordinarily be quite advanced. It is believed the internal guy has continued doing that work in preparation, but now with a new guy coming in at this stage there are questions about how much of that plan will be scraped and a new one put together on an abbreviated timeline.

Is this doubt over the coach or a fear he will move on?
