The Arsenal Thread

They usually call for Arteta to go when they lose or draw a game.

Assume the CL is tempering that. They’ve become quite entitled.

I get you’re not supposed to like PSG, but I have always liked Luis Enrique even back to when he was a player. His exit from football was heartbreaking and it’s great to see him back. And above all they play a really admirable brand of football that is great to watch, as any Enrique side would. I will be full throatedly supporting them and if it causes more drama for Arteta then even better.

I’m actually not bothered who wins it bar them now.

Like Spurs I’d be happy for them to win the Europa but as long as it’s not Manchester Utd I’m not bothered.

Hope PSG batters them 4-0 so that they come back to earth.

A late spawny winner would be far more humorous

Part of me feels bad mocking him because he really has done a very good job. Top level football is incredibly competitive and winning the major honours cannot be the only metric of success where failure to land it means you are a failure or deserving of mockery.

What you deserve mockery for though is acting like a cunt. And for that I dont feel bad for him.

For a man who said “over his dead body they would give up”, their form since that statement has been atrocious. There was more life on the moon.

It really has been a pathetic response. This is their last 9 league games going back to the end of Fed

14 points from 27. It’s not even top half of the table form.

Manchester United would like to know your location.

Arsetita is a dead body walking.

I only just bothered to contrast it with our own position. As of gameweek 25 (to flatter them a little) we were 7 points ahead of them. Since then, we’ve won 19 of 24 points, despite losing the league when we lost against Fulham. So we’ve widened our lead when we were supposedly vulnerable and playing like shite.

Can’t be doing with Arsenal winning the Champions League.

They’re already heavy favourites for Zubimendi, who will elevate them, and they’ll be definitely going for an elite forward.

Sealing Europe’s top prize AND adding from a position of strength will make things very competitive next season.

I can’t be doing with Man Utd winning the Europa League either. Just instantly makes them very attractive too.

But, but, they won the London Premier League :man_shrugging:

Zubimendi looks too lightweight for England.

Well, there is that, and hopefully he gets homesick and struggles to settle.

Is this a post from the 00’s? Thought we were past it.

Sure, there are players who struggle with the physicality here (and I don’t know how Zubi will do), but sometimes it’s the ones that look strong.

I’ve seen a young Raheem Sterling lifting Kompany off the floor with his back, as he was shielding the ball in one duel.

:joy:

I can’t believe there’s talk of them winning the CL.

Yes they beat Real Madrid handsomely but so did we. And so did a shit AC Milan side. And Lille too. They also got pumped by Barca in the league. And let’s be honest here, Rice hit two unbelievable free kicks in that. One in a million occurrence that completely changed the tie. Not saying they didn’t deserve to win but there was more than a touch of fortune when it came to those goals.

It took PSG penalties to beat us but everyone was purring over their performances in both legs. And they’ve had the chance to rest players with the league wrapped up a couple weeks back.

But should they get past PSG it’s likely they face Barca in the final. That’s no gimme. We’re not talking about the other semi being Spurs vs Ajax like when we won it where we were pretty big favourites no matter who goes through.

They’re third favourites for good reason and I think that 3-0 against Real is masking a team that is limping to the end of another season.

We’ve seen much worse sides than this Arsenal one go all the way…

They still have a job to do though. The PSG ecounter will be very interesting, but they’re at the final stages and are a quality side, of course they have a chance.
