Brentford got 3 goals by bypassing ours.
They just took the piss out of our Zonal defense, it was horrendous that day.
A compromise approach would be playing Henderson deeper and Jones higher - which IMO is what everyone and their mothers would reasonably expect.
Which would mean Salah would have to play deeper on the right in more like a 4-2-3-1ā¦ which he did only 2-3 times for us under Klopp.
This is a good article detailing the problem with our right sideā¦
Looks like this boy is not an option for our midfield any more.
Bit premature to be honest with you.
Of course, if heās charged and found guilty, heās not going to be an option.
Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?
The internet.
fucks sake.
Fabinho and Henderson looking tired this early in the season.
On paper we have the numbers to be relatively comfortable in this area of the pitch. On the pitch itself though, we have to rely on the same bodies too often and thatās the problem.
Elliott is going to be a long term absence. Weāve seen Naby miss a game having kicked a blade of grass and we know his international trips often end up with him fatigued or injured. Thiago has already missed five games having played less than 180 minutes so far this season. Ox has played less than 30 minutes of PL and CL footy since the opening day of the season. Hendo is well out of sorts and Milner is currently covering at right back.
I talked about replacing Wijnaldumās minutes a few times in the summer and was told they could be spread around but I think thatās proven to be wishful thinking. I think the concern is, can we really push for another player in that area with so many bodies already unless we can shift one or two on.
I think weāll see Milnerās time come to an end in the summer. Possibly weāll see a push to move one of Ox or Naby on. I think the former seems to have fallen further than the later but comes with less baggage. We really need to manage Hendersonās minutes and find some type of alternative to Fabinho.
Three players of interest who have contracts expiring in the summer are Franck Kessie at Milan, Boubacar Kamara at Marseille and Denis Zakaria at Gladbach. All in that right kind of age bracket we like, all at clubs where weād be a step up even as first team depth option rather than guaranteed starter and all likely to be on relatively modest wages by our standards even with the Bosman bump these contracts get.
I think you get the right one of those in on a free and weāll have a proper useable option that would really help the balance and depth. Not that that helps us now but maybe a cheeky January bid if needs be so those clubs get some type of fee instead of nothing come the summer.
He was so shit against us, canāt see him adapting to our tempo.
Zakaria on a free makes so much sense.
Roma are about to sign him. I think theyāre even in talks with Gladbach over a potential deal already in January, if I understood well what Romano was reporting. But could be also an agreement for next summer on a free of course.
He might not be the right one but heās not going to play a team as good as us very often so I wouldnāt judge him on just that game.
Heād be third choice on that list of three for me but if money is tight and weāre possibly losing a fourth midfielder in four years on a free then maybe a bosman is the way to add some actual useable depth in that area.
Kessie and Zakaria arenāt good enough.
Nor was Gini a lot of the time according to a fair few in these here parts.
Konate or Matip may soon find themselves playing there!
Itās a curse, I donāt know what else it could be. I half-jokingly said a few weeks back that I expected whole midfield to get injured because Wijnaldum left without a replacement being signed, just like with Lovren and defence last year, and now five midfielders are out with injuries. My mate jokingly said after watching Keita go down āat least we now know that itās attackers that Klopp will have to do without next seasonā.
