The Corona Pandemic

I think the next six months will be telling for the Northern Hemisphere nations, as it will give us a bit of insight into whether we have learnt lessons from early on on the pandemic and how this will project over the coming years. We might not have learnt enough yet but I still think there have been big strides made on how to handle the virus. I think most governments that were ignoring this early on have softened considerably which is also a good sign.

How many of that 8% would be the spreaders from the front line workers etc like Doctors etc ? Those are rather unavoidable imo.

India’s pretty much a shitshow now. No surprise though given the leadership that the country’s leaders have shown.

I would imagine not many. It is just a guess, but it seems spreader cases are most likely to exist in places where appropriate precautions are not being taken.

Quite a lot. Docs aren’t the only medical workers there. You then have nurses, medical sanitary workers etc etc. The potential for spreading if proper care isn’t taken place in terms of equipment being procured is huge IMO.

Not sure I can think of another vaccine which actually gives one disease symptoms. I took a flu shot once years ago and was bedridden with fever later that day. Most “authorities” insist flu shots cannot cause symptoms. Check out this article, however, about the developing COVID vaccines.

Fascinating article.

Main point I took from that is the fact that the UK didn’t and possibly still hasn’t fully grasped onto the fact that it’s about clusters and hitting these hard is what is needed. Or at least the politicians haven’t.

Cheltenham looks more and more like an almighty clusterfuck. Oh look who was in charge of that.

That article doesn’t explicitly state it, but most of those that experienced those symptoms did so in earlier phases of the trial that exposed them to doses that are no longer being used. That is the basic point of these earlier phase trials - to use a wide range of doses to create a dose response curve for effectiveness and safety. It is based on this they pick which doses to move ahead with on the larger phase 3 trials, the ones currently being conducted that determine whether the “drug” gets approved.

But, there will still undoubtedly people who feel shitty as a result of taking this. Despite the official marketing, this IS one of the biggest draw backs to the annual flu vaccine. Now imagine a case where we might have to do this one 3 times a year…

Has there ever been a bug to which the body can’t build long term natural immunity after exposure?

Yeah tons. We only have something like 30 vaccines. Either the immune system “forgets” or the pathogen changes in a meaningful way (as happens with cold and flu).

We actually have a fairly poor record of precisely that with other members of the coronavirus family. That is why the herd immunity has been extremely questionable from the very start.

The only certain thing is the vaccine will be another bonanza for Big Pharma.

Vaccines are not great money spinners if they’re properly efficacious. One off teatments don’t ensure repetitive purchasing

Unlikely in the extreme that we will find a one-time vaccination for this virus, at least not in any relevant time frame. The likely outcome is one you need every six months or so.

That is such a dumb take. Lets say the HCQ is shown to work in well controlled clinical trials…that does not vindicate someone claiming such and pushing it as a treatment without the data. That just completely misunderstands the process (not that I think this is actually a good faith argument).

Jim Jordan was maskless with Hicks and both Trumps and is reportedly refusing to quarantine.

Tests negative for the virus.

That’s not the point though is it
