The Corona Pandemic

Got my Pfizer 1st dose today. Very well organised at Toronto Downsview Airport (The Hangar Sport & Event Centre). No wait time at all. Now, I will have to see if there are any reactions.

How long until you reach the point where ‘everybody’ got their first shot>

Do you mean all adults? I’d expect that to be by the end of June/beginning of July. Everyone fully vaccinated by mid September and booster shots (especially for any particularly concerning variants) available from October. That’s my guesstimate as to the likely timetable.

I bet your arm is sore.

Well, every adult will have had the opportunity to be vaccinated by then. Sadly some (and thankfully a tiny minority) will refuse.

Good to see the Dutch people getting consistently more successful with the vaccinations. Spain is doing about 500,000 a day now and second doses consistently just 3 weeks after the first.

Today is the first time since 11 March last year that England has reported zero deaths from covid. There were a total of 4 reported across the UK as a whole.

This deserves to be in the Good News Thread.

Are you telling me I still have a 20% chance of dying?
What’s the point in it all?

No, no because your chance of catching it at all is also reduced. This is simply saying that your chance of dying from covid (if you were to catch it) is 80% reduced if you’ve had the vaccine compared to someone catching covid who hadn’t. 97% reduced after two doses (Pfizer).

115.799 jabs on Sunday over here what make toe week total 811.457 not too far from their 815.056 goal. It’s picking up speed. :+1:
