The Corona Pandemic

BaCk to home working now and being honest I’m honestly uncertain about it this time. Just started a new job and being in the office learning about the new processes etc has been easier by being there. Plus it gave me a nice new routine which allowed to get back exercising again.

Going to struggle in the new year for sure

I was at a small Christmas party on Saturday that was held outside. So far I know of 5 people who have tested positive since then.

Are you a member of the UK government? I’d so, nothing to worry about.

today is my last day in the office, will be working from home for the near future which will really make things interesting. My wife has worked from home for the past 18months and she’s taken over our spare room as the home office. which mean I’ll be set up on the dining room table or have to find a good location for a small workstation.

Good excuse for a man bar/shed.

Man not seen in 14 years emerges from shed

I’ve been in a FB pub shed group for a few years now. I got the okay from the missus to build it, but have other priorities ahead (garden change and pool for the kid). I do like this particular style tho, think this looks sharp:

think I’ll end up building a margaritaville-style bar under my second floor deck which is covered, have a bar on rollers and buy a square sail as a patio cover for inclement weather. See https://www.jacksshack.tc/ for inspiration, I was there 10 years ago and ate at the Grand Turk Margaritaville before getting back on the ship.

I had a great home office set up for years…which doesn’t work at all with everyone home. I’d think about a shed too, but heating it is just too much.

I hear that. not as cold here and would frame/insulate it. my best bud and brother are both builders (they built the Shangri-La in Toronto, for example) so it would be cheap and easy to do, but it’s just too much right now.

I have a fairly decent sized yard but with my garden and shed and greenhouse (and now pool) I don’t want it looking too cluttered back there. so the shed is going to move and the garden is getting moved for an above-ground swimming pool. Going to be a busy spring but what else is lockdown for?

with the bar getting built under the deck and somewhat protected from the elements, hopefully I’ll be able to reclaim my basement from my nephew (currently renting it) next summer and enjoy the space.

I have been informed that my booster jab in Febuary will be Moderna, I had Pfizer initially. No idea why I might do the reseach sometime or just ask my son tomorrow if he has any information (as he’s in the know being a pharmacist).

my second shot was Moderna, which was preceded by AZ. I can only speak for my own experience of a bit of localized tenderness for a day or two.

new records today locally and provincially, and old ones were blown through in style, +40%

After both my 1st jabs I had liquid oozing out of the jab site for weeks after (I mentionned it and just got puzzled looks). No idea what that was or why. Some tenderness after the 1st jab but nothing to speak of after the second (that’s often down to who and how they jabbed you some 'bruising is ‘normal’).
I’m not worried just a very slight interest over why the change?

yep. this one is going through the population like monty’s revenge through a bunch of gringos.

and all of those take-home tests that people were lined up for hours to get over past few days, none of those positive tests will be recorded on the official sites.

Testing is no longer available to the general population here. Positivity is up to 10%, we are capturing no more than 20% of the cases in the community now. Rapid tests are now basically unavailable too. We were buying them this Fall when they were cheap and available, but helping out friends and neighbours has burned through half of our stock (50) since the weekend. It is a colossal failure by the provincial government, and arguably the Feds too.

Isn’t this exactly the type of strong government action we need to end the pandemic? :grinning: :mask: :sunglasses:

UK figures this evening. That curve is pretty scary but deaths are comparatively low. Overall too high at over 110 people per day but compared to the case load it’s astonishing. As mentioned by others there’s the lag to watch out for.
