The depth of Liverpool FC's squad for the 2024–2025 season: Are We Ready for the Challenges?

And surprises me that Klopp didn’t make Gravenberch the focal point in the midfield.

A different viewpoint often does help as was the cas with Slot coming in.

Between Mac Allister and a Gravenberch who hadn’t played much for a whole season and missed most of pre-season, who would you prioritise the integration of?

Fair point.

Some people getting a bit carried away on the Gravy train.
He’s done well in three matches and now we’re wondering why Jürgen didn’t build the team around him?
He has always looked classy, but last season he struggled a bit with the intensity of the league. Having spent a long time on Bayern’s bench it wasn’t a surprise it took him a while to get up to speed. Now he’s really growing into his role and gaining confidence every game. It’s great to see.

Excellent post.

And he’s only just turned 22, so he’s still young. The potential, which has been evident for years, may finally be being fulfilled.

Not to mention the style of Jurgen’s play.

That said , I wouldn’t be surprised if Morton is made a work in progress. As a backup to Grav.

There’s something there. That’s what has stopped Liverpool from sending him on loan or even selling him to Leverkusen.

I genuinely hope people don’t build him up too much in their heads, so that when the inevitable dip of form (whether individual or team) comes, they start slagging him off.

Liverpool fans said we have adequate back up.

I agree.

But when Grav came in , I said he reminded me of Pogba.

Pogba as how he should have been played as.

A couple of years ago we rated him alongside Bellingham and Tchoumeni as one of three players who could become an elite midfielder for us.

That move to Bayern really set him back in his development, and it was always going to be hard for him to get going last year after missing the whole of preseason.

Delighted for him that he is doing so well.

Assuming that the starting lineup against Man U was our “first team” (I know, I know), then our second eleven is:

Kelleher
Bradley Quansah Gomez Tsimikas
Endo Jones
Chiesa Elliott Gakpo
Nunez

That team would be challenging for a European spot on its own.

Think you’re missing Elliott in there?

EDIT:

Not to mention, starting a game with 10 with the refereeing you’ve come to expect, is just asking for trouble.

I don’t disagree mate - more pointing to the poster, who’s OP looks as if they have a Uni project on the go or some social media/journalistic job/side-hustle/dream :joy:

I looked them up and they don’t exist.

We might all be replying to an AI-created poster, which would be a TAN first!

Yep - a bio that doesn’t mention Liverpool - and instead is like a Linkdin bio.

:robot:

Good catch, the profile picture also seems to be commonly recycled among (presumably) fake LinkedIn profiles.

Also, the most problematic part is the link seems to be a phishing attempt.

@moderators urgent attention required. The discussion is great and all, but the link needs to be removed.

It seemed pretty obvious to me it was a non-LFC rando as there were some red flags in their post I highlighted, but people ran with it anyway :joy:

I’ve left the OP up as it’s obviously generated a bit of discussion nonetheless, but I’ve removed that link.
