Showed promise early (pun fully intended), but has always been a right prick. Should’ve stayed in Russia.

Fifty caps though. Surely you don’t need to smuggle drugs if you are at that level. I’m looking forward to the podcast.

Actually, that would be a great podcast series - footballers who go off the rails - Best, Gazza, Maradona, Balotelli etc.

Who’s going to do it?

Talent was not questioned, but he had a penchant for finding trouble. Finally caught up to him. Talented footballers seem to get away with shit, especially when they are younger, unless it’s particularly heinous.

Lineker had Gazza on last week asking him about the idea that signing for fergie would have prevented him going off the rails. His response was that Cantona kicked a guy in the neck, Rooney shagged grannies, and giggs did his own brother’s wife so he’s not sure he buys it :joy:

Don’t forget Bruno Fernandes, the goalkeeper from Flamengo.

That was particularly horrific, and if you are in any bit skittish, squirmish or have any moral compass I suggest you do not look up that story

I had never heard of the player, so I looked him up. I was particularly appalled by the quote on his Wiki article:

What happened, happened. I made a mistake, a serious one, but mistakes happen in life – I’m not a bad guy. People tried to bury my dreams because of one mistake, but I asked God for forgiveness, so I’m carrying on with my career, dude.

Speaking about murdering the mother of his child as though he had just left the back door unlocked. Utterly heinous.

It is a truely depraved story and that is 1 guy who can rot in hell and I would not shed 1 tear for him.

Don’t forget Keane, purposely setting out to damage Haaland.

Huge match for the Dutch this evening in the Feyenoord stadium in Rotterdam against Poland. They sit one point behind Finland, but with a win against them, and two games in hand. Tied with Poland with one game in hand. Win tonight gives the Dutch control of the group.

Looking for big moments from our three Dutch who should start. Frimpong should still be getting back to fitness, and numbskull Koeman refuses to use him properly anyhow.

Hup Holland Hup!

FC Groningen sitting third in the Eredivisie table going into Sunday’s matches. Most of the others in the top 5 have a game in hand (or more), but to be a spot above Ajax, and sitting where they are is a wonderful start for a small club which just got back into the Eredivisie last season.
