The European Union

As for citizenship, if you have the passport, you are French. You might come from a different background, but if you got your status legally, you are French. I think to argue the contrary is dangerous. Yes if they break the law, they should be punished. But questioning their legality as citizend is not going to help

Just to pick up that statement: as I had no idea I looked at what happened in Burundi in the last decades:

  • a civil war with 300k killed people
  • major unrests between 2015 and 2018 (more than 1.5k killed people)
  • the RED-Tabara insurgency between 2023 and 2024
  • Urban grenade attacks in spring 2024

Apart from that:

According to major humanitarian monitors like Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, the political landscape ahead of municipal and legislative elections remains intensely repressive. [1, 2]

Because the government closely controls local media and refuses to cooperate with United Nations investigators, many casualties go unrecorded. However, local advocacy groups (such as Ligue Iteka) routinely document dozens of bodies discovered anonymously each year—for instance, 85 unexplained bodies were recovered in the border province of Cibitoke alone. The UN security apparatus links these covert casualties to state-sponsored extrajudicial executions, arbitrary arrests, and enforced disappearances aimed at crushing political dissent. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

So, it’s not as if everything is going smoothly there, isn’t it? When you nurture social inequality, you’ll get violence. Many countries in the world are currently a proof of that.

It was a throwaway comment, but since it´s the part you focusdd on, Basically everyone in that country is poorer than everyone in France

But not even close to literally every person in Burundi is looting and rioting.

That´s the point. Everyone in France is not in absolute povrety. This suggestion that they are looting because they are poor or ´disadvantaged´ is just nonsense, otherwise every poor person everywhere would be doing it. They´re not. They´re not thinking about inequality or whatever other excuse-

You said that in Burundi, there was no rioting. I showed you that there have been extremely violent events there, far worse than in France. In Burundi as in many other countries in the third world, you have a small group of privileged people taking everything, while letting almost nothing to the population. It results in violence.

But I’ll stop here, I’ve said my part on that topic.

I didn’t say there was no rioting, I believe . I said they’re not all rioting despite all being much poorer. Yes I said everyone

Even Le Pen thinks the looters are French so I haven’t clue what Liverdinner is barking on about!
