Yeah I guess it was watchable, but just left me questioning what the point of it was. Too silly to be a real nostalgia play for people our age (and the tone was weird) and way too expensive to be a fun throw away project that it turned into (meaning it was disposable, not that it turned out to be fun)

Semi related, but it appears Jared Leto is finally getting Me Tooed despite being known for years that he is a notorious groomer
BBC have made a documentary about it, haven’t watched it yet, though.
How weird the he man film was or the Leto accusations finally getting freely aired?
We’ve just watched a British comedy on Paramount called Fackham Hall.
Essentially, it is a parody of period dramas like Downton Abbey but with a huge gag count and numerous visual jokes and wordplay.
I’d really recommend it. I was quite surprised to find that Jimmy Carr was amongst the writers. I’m not a huge fan of his standup, but this is very well crafted, if rather silly humour.

We watched the Drama last night, the one with Zendeya and Patterson. The studio went to lengths to not speak about what it is actually about and get journalists to not spoil it. All I heard was “you will not expect where this film will take you.” And despite that I did not expect at all where this was going. I was absolutely rivetted, horrified by sections of it, and laughed my arse off. Really incredibly compelling performances from Zendeya and Patterson.

The best part is that I still don’t know whether you’re recommending it or not. 
That said, I’ll watch anything with Pattinson in it. He’s become a genuine top class actor.

Thanks for posting this. I’ve just had a read through and really enjoyed it (still haven’t seen the movie but the article does make me more interested in seeing it). It feels a much more balanced view than that I read by someone in the guardian recently who had authored a translation of The Odyssey (Wilson?) and claimed that they were Nolan’s inspiration for the movie…
Will probably pick up his book Lost worlds for some summer reading/listening.
Emily Wilson’s translation back in the near pre-covid era was one of the seminal targets of the fightback over “woke”. Her translation was generally well received, but you know how these things go on the right.
I think she’s been quite critical of the film just not being that good, but in terms of Nolan’s treatment of the material I dont think her comments should be taken as criticisms. What I’ve seen her say is that it is a very modern interpretation of who someone in Odysseus’ shoes would have been (war weary with borderline PTSD over the things he’s done) which has no basis in the character Homer describes. That seems a pretty reasonable observation and is aligned with the idea this piece is arguing about the things that are happening represent the break down of the social order that defined the age.

I haven’t had chance to read all of the comments posts and I am half tempted not to.
Although I am familiar with the concept of the poem I have never actually informed myself with the whole story.
So, I am going into this pretty open minded and without other people’s critic.
I haven’t been the cinema for a decade but listening to Nolan talk passionately about it and with it being filmed completely on IMAX 70mm, I am really looking forward to it.
Apparently, there are only 3 true IMAX Cinemas in the UK so I think I’m going to go in full whack and buy a ticket for a screening at one of these.

Spider-man was pretty good, enjoyed a superhero movie after a long time.
Finally got to see The Odyssey. Great fun! I haven’t watched an epic in the cinema for a very long time. Probably more than a decade.
Obviously there’s some silliness, and it’s not faithful to the text, but it’s enjoyable and not stupid.
Agamemnon as Darth Vader was a hoot! And how hot is Charlize Theron? Blimey!
