that movie is incredible. That actor only just passed 3 years ago. He made that movie, and Vincent D’onofrio.

Originally, wasn’t even an actor R Lee Ermey. He was a marine drill instructor who was consulting on the film but was so good he was given the role.

This was another similar role tour de force from Officer and a Gentleman.

I’m trying to think of other movie roles where someone’s life experiences led them to a major role in a movie that mirrored their background. Steve McQueen? Bruce Lee?

Lee Marvin was a US Marine in WW2 and made a few war films. Which brings to mind Audy Murphy. Bona fide war hero who went on to play in war movies. While I’m on that theme, Richard Todd jumped in to take Pegasus Bridge on D Day. He later played the part of his commanding officer on that day in the film 'The Longest Day". A great film and a great book. :+1::nerd_face:

Tony Sirocco who played Paulie “Walnuts” Gaultieri, in the Sopranos was a real life mobster. Did a lot of time and ran with some dangerous people. He also had a bit part in Goodfellas.
