The Man Utd thread (3)

I’ve changed my mind.

Nothing says leader like blaming your young CB for not tracking a midfielder’s run into the box.

I reckon Boromir was actually talking about Bruno…

Particularly when odds are in that defensive system, Bruno should be tracking that run into the box. He is willing to do the pressing work on a Rodri (and get beaten), but expects someone else to cover a running midfielder (Foden). But in the clip I saw, Ugarte is covering no one at all, and is perhaps the right player to be pressing Rodri in collaboration with Sesko. Fernandes really has to be the guy to pick up Foden, because Yoro has to cover Doku. There is a decent discussion of it in the BBC column

but the simple fact of the matter is that in this image, absolutely no one with any sense of the game will be thinking Red 15 should be moving up to cover Blue 47 in order to free up Red 8 to press. Fernandes blew his read, then blamed someone else. Maybe the worst element is that he wasn’t really pressing Rodri either. If you have a midfield passing sequence where you cannot actually explain what either defending central midfielder was contributing, the result is no surprise.

…and that is not even getting at how much space Mazraoui is giving the City forwards to run, playing them on a full two steps deeper than the last central back. I’d be livid at my teammates in Friday night beer league.

Glory hunters don’t like to defend…
They like to score the winning goal and be lauded by the fans.
Bruno epitomises everything that is wrong on the pitch at Utd… give him a new mouthwatering contract this instant :0)

Noticed the last part about Man Utd and Spurs saving themselves for the Europa League… so what is the excuse this season for Man Utd?

Reckon boromir is well Bruno.

Doesn’t take well to basic advices. Chasing after idiocy. That’s pure boromir.

Good to see Ratcliffe’s ability to get and nurture sporting talent covers both cycling and football. Undecided on sailing yet but one shouldn’t specialise.

He’ll be splitting peas at home soon. Getting practice

Thought he’d done that already

Hang on. So they want the squad to do well in the Prem and qualify for Europe while at the same time banging on about how not having European commitments is such a good thing because they can do well in the Prem… :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Yeah it’s a point I made earlier in the season about not having European commitments this season so they could concentrate on the league and get err into Europe.

And before anyone says it their only chance of Europe was the CL.

There was a story on him pulling large investment in North Sea oil (I think it was) and moving it to the US over the last few days.
