The Man Utd thread (3)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Goldbridge went live at 10am…he was sacked 30secs into the stream, you see him find out in real time.

Classic meltdown.

A reminder that the worst manager in their recent history has taken them within three points of our league-winning team.

His issue was sticking to his system when he didnt have the players to play in it.
I dont understand managers who do that.

Cash reward to the first person who can find a pundit saying something about Utd DNA.

Morning, Nikola!!

“It’s ok talking about time, but this is modern football, you don’t get time, they need to get this decision right and if that takes time, then that’s what they need to do.”

I wonder how the sacking meeting went? “Look Ruben, it’s not you that’s the problem, it’s us.”

No, it probably didn’t. Rinse and repeat, I guess.

They are slowly learning!

It only costs them 14 months of dreadful football (and a lot of money) to understand appointing an intransigent manager mid-season who’s asking you to wait until the end of the season is probably not a good idea.

There have been a few pundits commenting that the sense around the club is that the squad is better tfan the results. I am just no sure of that. Looking at the top 6, the only club which seems to have less basic talent is Villa. Is there a player at ManU you would swap 1 to 1?

He seemed to have Slot’s number so I’m glad they’ve moved on.

It’s always a difficult debate because too many people want to view the recent performances under an out of depth/misfiring manager as representative of how good that player is. Look at how we are responding to Mac, Ibou, Mo, even Virgil.

For several years I did think Utd were far better than their performances/results, but with the changes they made the last 2 summers I am now less sure. Especially given their upturn in results this season. But I still think there is more than enough there that a “Utd caliber” manager could have them competing

As a Liverpool fan I always have to celebrate when Man Utd have drama like this. I just wish we weren’t struggling ourselves, as it takes the edge off laughing at them too much.

I stuck the boot in on my Man Utd mate in our little WhatsApp group, which you have to do, but unfortunately there was plenty for him to give back, justifiably.

For me, that is what makes the timing so odd, though I can understand the sequence. Over his entire time, I absolutely do think ManU has underperformed their talent level. But I would say he was finally showing some real improvement, and ManU is for the first time about where I think they should be based on comparative squad strength.

In my view I think they just upgraded to the ready made versions of the players they already had. They did nothing to look at the midfield.

As for Man Utd fans giving it back, sadly they still have little to crow back at us, as they are still 3 points behind what many are describing as the worst Liverpool side they’ve ever seen (it’s not but I refer you to several post match threads and the Slot thread for reference).

3 cups in the last ten years. We’ve won two league titles and a Champions League.
