They have things to fix on a few different levels and it takes time.
All clubs go through these spells, this is not the first and not the last time a big club is in struggle before they eventually come back.
We’ve all been there at least once as fans of our clubs, thinking that we finally got it right and success is around the corner… then more changes and/or more time was needed.
Not counting an unexpected, sudden, wild and near triumph like Liverpool of 13/14, by the way.
It’s also the world’s most popular game where opinions how to fix things can be really wild.
I’m just waiting to see which media plonker will have the nerve to suggest Alonso is ‘in talks’ to become Manu manager. You just know someone won’t be able to resist.
This DNA thing is the most grating thing I’ve ever come across. Like did Ferguson rediscover it in the 1980s? After they lost it under Busby? No they just made some poor decisions on and off the pitch and bought into the spell of one man (That was Busby, it now seems its Ferguson).
Actually, their attacking stats have been great throughout the season, which completely surprised me. Now they have a coach whose only job is to play to the strength of the players at his disposal and, more importantly, he genuinely cares for the club - both are a complete opposite of Amorim’s behaviour. Combination of those two traits will prove to be crucial for CL qualification in the season where their top four rivals are being wildly inconsistent. They will finish above us just because of that, I’m sure of it - it’s up to us to finish fifth.
