What they need is exactly what Klopp did. A complete squad replacement that takes years and unbelievably good sales and purchases. As thereās only one Klopp (and thereās more chance of Gary Neville winning Mr Universe than him going there) then theyāre essentially fucked.

Utd have bought a lot of players since Ralf said that. The issue is they just havent got rid of that many, and I think it is pretty clear that was the real point he was making.
Outside of Pogba that summer and Ronaldo a few months into Ten Hagās time, they really havent moved on too many players. They have a long list of old/injured players whose contracts were allowed to run down. There was Greenwood, and this summer they finally offloaded Van Der Beek and Wan Bissaka, and raised needed PSR funds with McTominay. But it was clear Ralf was talking about established senior players whose presence was detrimental. Even with all the signings they have made since they have not actually listened to what Ralf was saying.

Yeah Amorim might be a genius but at the end of the day if they dont sort out their recruitment and contract side, theyāre going no where. Iād throw Fernandes on the skip fire too.

Being honest from what iāve seen of Ratcliffe at United so far and the odd dip into the cycling world (Ineos) i think itās more of the same.

Hilarious article. Sure lads, Jim might have spent a fortune levering Ashworth out of Newcastle only to find he hadnāt done his diligence on him and didnāt actually know what his skillset was, but removing him at the cost of Ā£5m quid after three months is a show of strength. Iād call it a show of incompetence, but each to their own.
As for Rashford, the lad is on Ā£375k a year until 2028. I suspect the only way United get him out of the door is to swallow those wages. Strong leadership. Cultural reset. Etc

By the way, my fag packet maths (which I suspect is significantly more diligence than Utd manage) puts their remaining outlay on the Rashford contract at around Ā£72m.

But mate, they conducted an exhaustive manager review in the summer, concluding that they already had the best candidate in post. Why else would they have extended his contract and given him more money to spend?

Actually, I think the best bit is now that they have pushed these puff pieces out the door at Rashfordās expense, he will be thoroughly demotivated and feel no loyalty to the club whatsoever. Probably quite happy to take the Ā£72M you note and be a prominent malcontent.
They will end up paying him Ā£72M to play for someone else.
