Which makes the Conference League that bit more perplexing. When you look at the sides Chelsea would face, there have to be multiple sides that will field an XI paid less than the average Chelsea player.
Real Sociedad taking ManU will be worth a watch, I think
Might be to Utd’s advantage. Helps generate interest and a better fee for him next summer, while getting him off the wage bill permanently. Possibly the same with Antony.
Rashford showing he can still play helps salvage his value, but it just makes the questions around Amorim that much bigger. Amorim hasn’t done anything to establish his authority other than collect his paycheque. Running off Rashford has only seen the season turn that much worse - this is actually a worse situation than Sancho was for Ten Hag.
They’ve followed this up with a report that the Chief Executive Omar Berrada has warned staff that they face the sack for leaking information. I assume the warning of the sack is also leaked information.
Also considering how they keep sacking people anyhow who is to say it isn’t a disgruntled staff member. This lot couldn’t give more entertainment off the field if they tried.
I am astonished by the amount of excuses being made for him. Yes there are limitations of how they go about putting a team together, but that is what is making it difficult for them to compete for the top 4. But they are all CL players and for as much as we laugh at them they have no business being at that end of the table. The only thing keeping them out of a relegation fight is historic ineptitude of the bottom 3. This is an Astonishing level of under performance.
I was startled to see yesterday (when Everton had the lead) that ManU was at the W + D = L point. Amorim’s record is 4-3-8, so 1 point per game. Enough to avoid relegation most years, however startling underperformance even versus Ten Hag. I said it tongue in cheek yesterday, but someone like Moyes really would be doing far better.
Beyond the underperformance though is the simple targeting of Rashford as a scapegoat, like a pound-shop Mourinho - when he has achieved nothing outside the Portuguese game. It is very difficult for me to believe that a personality like Rashford was impossible for him to work with.
