Israel is now blaming Qatar :man_facepalming:. How long will Biden keep pampering these bunch of cunts?

It’s sadly ironic that Hitler’s greatest legacy was to perennially absolve the Jewish people of any potential wrongdoing.

I just meant which forces, with what training and gear, would be assigned to a task like that. Most militaries would say combat engineers, most militaries would also say ‘you want to do WHAT?’

Two things stood out, for me

  1. There’s real possibility of an exodus from Gaza as the extent of destruction has made most parts of it unlivable for at least several years.

  2. Although there’s been occasional chatter of revitalizing the PA since the beginning of the war, there’s absolutely no initiative in this regard. He pointed out that he himself had proposed a more inclusive and representative PA since 2010.

ICJ orders Israel to take measures to prevent and punish direct incitement of genocide

Judge Donoghue has ordered Israel to take measures to prevent and punish the direct incitement of genocide. The ruling has created international legal obligations for Israel. She said all parties in the Gaza Strip are bound by international law. The ruling has also been read out in French.

IDF will be seen in a similar vain to the SS. The stain on Israel and its people will last for generations

In essence, that is a loss for the South Africa complaint. Notice that the agency for any genocide in the ruling is moved away from the State of Israel, they are slapped for the failing to prevent and punish.

True. I don’t understand the legal language but I could see many people are disappointed. It’s more like a set of recommendations than a verdict/order. Most disappointing is perhaps the absence of a call for ceasefire.

A legal call for a ceasefire would be on very shaky ground. One of the belligerents, the one that initiated this current round, is holding civilians hostage and just refused an offer for a two month ceasefire. There isn’t really much of a basis in international law for telling a state that it cannot use armed force in that situation. Hence the Court instructing Israel to observe limits in the exercise of that force, but not telling them to stop.

I didn’t have any expectations from this in the first place. The entire world order is fucking corrupt and should be gutted.

Israel will continue to defend itself while adhering to international law, says Netanyahu

Is this guy even real

  1. Gaza was barely livable even before this conflict. I think the exodus isn’t a possibility anymore , it’s going to be a certainty.

  2. I do think there will be some ramshackle version of the PA in place. But as you’ve continuously emphasized before , PA is another evil.

UN Secretary General has now been presented with hard evidence of active participation of UNRWA employees in the October 7 attack, not just complicity, but actual hostile action within Israel. The US has suspended funding to UNRWA.

Gaza death-toll has passed 26,000. That’s one thousand killed in five days.

It’s really not that surprising, given there are 13,000 UNWRA employees in Gaza. Vast majority providing aid/teachers etc. There was always going to be a fraction that supported Hamas.

There is a certain hypocrisy in the outrage of US politicians, pausing the $300m aid…portrayed as US tax payers funding Hamas.

150 UNWRA employees have been killed so far, and numerous UNWRA facilities destroyed (ie by the same logic those people and building the US tax payer helped pay for … not to mention tens of thousands of civilians killed, with many instances of war crimes). The US had no problem with the $14bn in military aid to Israel that enables this. No hint of pausing this. Beyond please try not to commit genocide.

There is an absurdity that in one instance you have billions directly leading to atrocities (military aid in a single conflict). On the other hand you have an organisation providing humanitarian aid, a fraction goes to Gaza, a fraction of a fraction indirectly benefits military conflict.

Seems Israel was keeping this in its back pocket for the ICJ ruling. Will be interesting to see what evidence there is. Given typically Israel would simply make a press conference and present it to the world.

easiest solution for Israel in dealing with Gaza is to raze it to the ground.

They could care less about the well-being of Palestine and are displaying their indifference on a daily basis, bomb by bomb.

That the US is bankrolling it says all you need to know. The West Bank will be the home of the rest of the Palestinians.

The rest of the world cannot stop Russia from taking part of Ukraine, and they cannot stop Israel from taking Gaza. it will be done whether we like it or not.

Likely. I also suspect the offer of a two month ceasefire for the hostages was tactical.

Worth noting that the ICJ hasn’t actually delivered a definitive ruling, this is an interim procedural step. South Africa’s core claim is going forward, but they lost of the relief measures they had asked for - hence just about every possible side declaring victory.

I wouldn’t say I am surprised at this as we’ve both maintained in the past that local elements in Gaza who are working for the UN might have had ties with Hamas.

But to take part in the attack is something of a clusterfuck

Well, you are just 26,000 lives too late :man_shrugging:
