The Middle East Thread

Cowards the lot of them!

Absolutely freaking shocking. But it is in line with the reports of Swiss witnesses I’ve heard and read about. They suffered the same fate.

One said that at some point, they asked for a doctor for some of the prisoners who were feeling very unwell because the Israelis had token away their medics from them (some members of this fleet were elderly people). They asked for a doctor in order to provide them their medics, and the guards said: “No doctor for animals.”

From what I can see, Thunbergs report is no exaggeration by any stretch of the imagination. And the cowards from the Swedish embassy (and the Swiss too btw, who by all accounts, had a similar despicable behaviour) can go f*ck themselves.

This quote from Thunberg is crucial:

Exactly echoed by a number of the Irish members of the flotilla who returned home eventually.

I know there is often pushback about Greta for perceptions that she is being performative, but every person on that boat started that journey fully expecting this sort of treatment. This is the equivalent of King’s Freedom marches where they knew full well the cops were going to beat the shit of them for just showing up and they did it anyway. It is nothing short of heroic.

The Israelis do it to Palestinians in broad daylight.
Noone of importance blinks an eyelid. It’s despicable!

Absolutely. She’s often mocked and scoffed at (for several reasons), but the least one can say is that she doesn’t lack personal courage. And the same applies for all the people who went on that journey.

Sigh

(We here means Israel, though it is possible that the US would also bomb a bit, since it’s relatively easy targets in uncontested battle space and trump already wasted 1 billion dollar, using obscenely advanced missiles against Ansar Allah in Yemen; which was totally unecessary by the way, since they could have used far cheaper weapons for the same effect).

But probably “we” just means that Israel can commence the war again.

Like they need an excuse. Depressingly predictable

It was almost as if this whole ceasefire thing was a ruse by Trump to get the Nobel Peace prize that he was never even nominated for.

Strong doubt regarding the “With great enthusiasm”

Also strong doubt regarding the “love and spirit for the Middle East has not been seen like this in a thousand years!” part.

I also suspect that the FAST, FURIOUS and BRUTAL" line is taken from an action movie.

Anyway, thank you for your attention to this matter.

Remember when Trump world people refer to things as peace plans, they are no such things. This deal is not about peace. It was about advancing them ball forward to get closer to the Trump Gaza Riviera, owned by Israel

In his head, he sees himself as this great leader, the leading character in this action movie playing out in real life, and somehow he’s convinced others to follow his madness.

The Iranian regime has long had problems and even more so after October 7th and their forced entry into the war, with the ensuing loss of face and humiliating defeat.

Right now, something remarkable is happening in Iranian cities. I don’t know if it will lead to revolutionary change, but this is remarkable:

Sometimes otherwise negative events in the world, can have interesting domino consequences. There is a remarkable debate ongoing inside Iran too. Read this:

So worth keeping an eye on Iran. Just noting it. This is not normal. What is truly, truly clear, is that Hamas surprise attack took Iran by surprise in a very bad way, forced them to support Hamas by default despite the glaring problems doing so and totally fucked them. The loss of Hezbollah, cannot be underestimated in any form or way. Iran was forced to play the Hezbollah card and Hezbollah fucked up escalation management at a time when the Isreaeli war machine was completely unleashed and ready, then Iran lost the support of Hezbollah when it did nothing when israel counter attacked in Lebanon and thorougly won that short campaign and it was a mask off for Iran. They spent so insane an amount of political capital for no gain, only losses. The theocracy is in trouble.

It’s quite interesting really. Keep one eye open regarding Iran. There is likely to be more interesting events in the future, as the fallout from their defeat continues.

Look at the women, they don’t give a fuck. It’s amazing to see the collapse of Morality Enforcement.

Very interesting developments.
I don’t follow anything closely however much seems to have changed with Iran’s messaging these last months. Even the reaction to the Israeli bombings seemed far too muted. Like someone had lost the debate over foreign policy however this is domestic and reaches deeper.
