Guy I play indoor footy with is at Citizenship & Immigration, and he was just this Sunday telling us how difficult it was to stickhandle this matter through Canadian, Egyptian, Israeli, and UN bureaucracy. He didn’t sound particularly optimistic. No paying for post-game beers for him this week.
I think you know what I mean. Or do I have to explain it to the last detail, so you don’t get offended or feel disrespected?
Didn’t shut anything off. You criticized my post didn’t you? The gif just means I was expecting it.
As regards the term Jewish lobby, it is what it says on the tin. Jewish groups that lobby.
What is the right wing lobby? Or the left wing lobby?
I have also refrained from giving any opinions about this issue - Israel/Palestine - even though it’s a really interesting thread, precisely because people get too het up.
If you don’t mind?
I genuinely don’t get what the difficulty of choosing words wisely is, and why it would be so hard to apologise if someone takes offence and ask them what they would suggest you say instead?
I didn’t say you shouldn’t choose words wisely.
Never said it would.
My point is, people should be respectful, choose words carefully yet, at the same time, people shouldn’t use the you offended me tactic, so popular nowadays as a means of getting their own way.
Jewish lobby = images of Jews pulling the world’s political strings = A bit of a stretch in my opinion.
I don’t think this was the case in this context at all was it? Most, if not all, those people who were calling out that language have been readily criticising the Israeli government, and have pointed out that the activities being criticised are done by a subset of the people being talked about, while on the other hand, these people are often wrongly and unfairly criticised as a whole.
Can we focus on the real issue? They’ve got tanks outside a children’s hospital currently and won’t let people leave
For me its this which is so scary. It shows the intent.
Jewish Chronicle in a bit of a storm, for an article describing how Hamas are worse than Nazis.
Humanizing the SS, and that the Nazis didnt take any pleasure in the holocaust.

Reporters resigning, it is being denounced in the Jewish community. The state of the right wing propaganda.
As the death toll of UN workers passes 100, Israel instead states that UN workers were part of Hamas

Its fucking nuts. Both Hamas and the Israel government are extremists. The worst parts of humanity, fostering hate, lies and division.
Surprised that the UK/US position is still tenable.
Just imagine if the shoe was on the other foot and people were calling Israelis (not just the government) human animals that will be deliberately restricted from basic human requirements.
Well, if you were in the UK, you’d not just be called an antisemite Nazi but you’d have a pretty good chance of being imprisoned.
It isn’t
Macron has suddenly changed his tune too.
It’s the same old story every time Israel responds to an attack ; Defend their right to ‘self-defence’ and stand ‘shoulder to shoulder’ with Israel … until … the utter barbarity and disproportionality of their response stokes so much anger , and poses a security risk , in their own countries that they can no longer seen to be condoning the very actions that they gave the green light to.
Is it averting security risks or grabbing votes? I guess they don’t have to be mutually exclusive…
It usually is. For a very small publication it generates more IPSO complaints than any other. More than the S*n, Mail, Express and so on.
It was never tenable, and totally obvious from the moment they took their positions what the outcome would be. A few of us here pointed that out and got shouted down. Now everyone waking up, including Labour, and things are too far gone to do anything about it
Right. There’s always a fear of reprisals by the islamic terrorist organisation members
Its content is deplorable, but is the inevitable result of giving Murray a platform for this. A few years ago I read a book about the history of scientific advancement into genetics and it basically describes its early years as being dominated by the push to find the scientific explanation for why white people were so much smarter and deserving than these other funny races. Murray’s writing is barely distinguishable from that sort of stuff.
Sorry, I wasn’t clear enough. I meant in general not in here. I struggle to see how saying the Jewish lobby is anti semetic.
I understand Mascot’s point that many see it that way. But PaulRojo would have to list a load of Jewish lobby groups, organisations, when we all know in here what he means when he says the Jewish lobby.
Last night, several channels (France 24, AJ, BBC) claimed a change in the tone of the Western leaders.
