Not sure any other male vocalist in the rock genre (that i know of )touches the high 4’s , let alone go to 6 octaves.
From what I know, aside from those we’ve mentioned, there’s also Corey Taylor. That said, I’m really not a fan of Slipknot even though I like him and Jim Root very much.
Gets me right in the feels bro. And his haunting performance in Song for the Dead
Nothing wrong with it at all. Yeah mate they also have mortgages to pay. Which is why a world class virtuoso like Nuno Bettencourt (another supremely tasteful player) is the tour guitarist for Rihanna.
Pays the bills
Kind of a meh thing for me. There are a few that really stand out and the best ones are indeed by Adrian. Both solos in Flight of Icarus, the solo from Revelations. The solo from Powerslave…the rest are good but not memorable for me.
We’ve all been there. I passed up watching the real Pantera when I was in uni in the US (although i did see Dime and Vinny with Damageplan), I had tickets to see The Prodigy but had to pass because my ex set the date for my firstborn’s birthday party (Keef has passed away), and I could have seen Nevermore at the Camden Underworld but was tired after work and didn’t go.
The other side of the story is that I was majorly hyped up for the Metallica gig in India and Lars’s pathetic drumming pissed me off majorly. Couldn’t wait for the whole concert to end.
I’ve had this on non stop repeat today after watching Muse blow it up at the National Bowl last evening
Mate, a good friend (a drummer in a punk band himself) was right near Lars’ kit at Download a few weeks ago.
His drum tracks are dubbed.
I have never heard that about a live rock or metal drummer, certainly not of Lars’ stature.
I mean he’s not the best, I remember watching them live as far back as the Reload tour when he lost his timing on Damage Inc and James, Kirk and Jason had to chase him down with their playing.
But this is a new low.
You can’t play it? Retire. No shame in that
Pretty pathetic dubbing it is then too. him banging the snare like it’s a trashcan. Fuck , even a trashcan makes a better noise.
He’s probably made a bigger fool out of himself than what he managed to do with the whole napster shit.
The biggest thing that pisses me off about him is that apparently he’s the one responsible for nearly dialling out Jason’s bass tracks on AJFA. The sound engineer protested but Lars overruled him, some kind of angst left over from Cliff’s untimely demise (but what has poor Jason got to do with that you jerk!).
Then years later that same sound engineer encountered Lars at the Grammys and Lars jokingly but -not-really blamed him for Jason’s parts being so faint in the mix.
The sound engineer had to exercise great restraint to not deck Lars right then and there
It’s pretty disrespectful to the fans actually. The fans pay some good money to be able to come to the concerts and to see metallica and especially lars ulrich half arse it for the money is a shit thing to do.
And the whole band has been guilty of living off of their fame for 2 decades more than usual. Atleast with Megadeth , Slayer etc , you do know that you aren’t gonna get a band half-arsing around
They charge exorbitant amounts!!
After reading all this over my morning coffee I’m about to drive to work and smash out Stargazer the greatest vocal performance ever by the great RJ Dio.
And then @koptician its onto Muse, todays best band with of course Priest.
So the order will be Stargazer, Supremacy and The Rage…or the Sentinel.
Already booked my ticket to see them early next year
Jealous that I’m never going to see Priest live
Has to be one of the best metal songs coming out in the recent past.
@Rooster how about Rob’s vocals on Jawbreaker!! Give me goosebumps. Every. Time!!
100% @Sithbare Firepower was awesome. Never the Heroes and Rising from Ruins vintage Priest.
This song was just made for Peak Halford. If this sounds so fucking great now , Imagine what a late 70’s Halford would have done for this.
