Jesus, are they still going?
Saw them at the students union in my home town in 1978.
Fuck me I feel old saying that.

As good as ever!! This was my 9th time seeing them

Iron Maiden appear to be a bunch of old foggies having fun, would that be correct in your opinion from seeing them live? (namely the fun bit but they are old )

You’re not wrong, they still run around like a bunch of 30 year olds on stage. Bruce can still belt it out as good as ever. He was also having a gunfight with SIT Eddie (flare guns but was hilarious).

Bruce goes “Mate, that’s not a gun, THIS is a gun” and proceeds to unveil a fucking cannon on a turrent

As for the musical performance…spot on!!

In celebration of Ziggy Stardust winning TAN’s Best Ever Album , here’s an impossibly young-looking David Bowie performing Five Years live on the OGWT back in 1972.

Despite my criticisms about their music , I would fanboy out were they to come and play a gig in India. Their influence in metal music cannot be understated.

My undisputed all-time favourite. Gets me every damn time.

Was at Frankfurt Stadium to see The Weeknd in concert and man did he put on a show. Great energy/vibe and perfect distraction from the madness of preseason/transfer window.

  • how can someone perform for almost two hours without having a sip of water and doing that for a whole year now.

  • kids (actually adults too) being on their phones all the time - yes it’s annoying but in this occasion I have to say cellphone lights worked great with the show.

I absolutely despise people either recording the show or showing phone flashlights. The first is irritating to the others who want to have an unhindered view and the second can put off the musicians on the stage

I was not a metal fan then one birthday my step son offered me ‘The Number of the Beast’. I thought it was brilliant and Iron Maiden have been my favorite metal band ever since.
I do like listening to a bit of metal and heavier stuff now and then. It’s all that ‘information’ in the lower mids bass region taht’s great, sometimes the way they sing really puts me off though, a required taste?
A big proble for a lot of metal bands is poor recordings as it really does need a good source.

There are some vocalists who can sing in a normal way. But by and large , heavy metal vocals involve a lot of belting(Dickinson being esp known for that).

W.r.t the production , it’s a mixed thing. Some bands need that kinda production.

@legalalien - have you heard anything about this band before?

This is similar to me. I love Iron Maiden and some other bands but am put off by some of the screechy, growly sort of singing style a lot of the bands within the Heavy Metal genre use.
