tired of discussing semantics. back to the OP, I think there’s been a lot worse messages in music than what this artist has released in this song. Did he do it intentionally, to incite racism and small-town violence? that’s not for me to decide.
Sad news , but not surprising. I’d been following her decline for years now , she was a real tormented soul and it had been obvious for a while that she was willing death as a release.
Aldean didn’t explicitly say the N word so it can’t be racist. Sure.
Only problem is its clearly a publicity stunt by Aldean’s team to get more sales. The idea that this song is hated by Lib-ur-uls will make it a sure fire #1 hit despite being a pretty weak song.
I’ve seen Aldean live, as my wife and I used to get to lots of country/folk music festivals before we had kids, and Aldean was a pretty forgettable artist (I had to look back at our pictures of the festivals just to remember if we saw him). Just another in identikit country musician, don’t really associate him with any one song but I guess he has his anthem now.
LOL, that’s not his anthem. Christ. and I’m no country lover, by any means whatsoever.
Only show I’ve ever seen, won tickets to see Darius Rucker (formerly, Hootie and the Blowfish) and the only good part of his show was when he covered Purple Rain.
There was plenty of hoo ha about that song from the more conservative people exposed to it
Also, big difference between a woman wanting sexual pleasure and someone wanting a return to the good old days and small town mentality; there are very clear conotations around that especially in southern states, even more so when filming a music video at a famous lynching site while disparaging BLM protests (the video makes it clear that the lyrics are referring to that).
is it the BLM protests he has a problem with, or the violence/looting/property damage that went along with it. more than one angle to that discussion.
any difference between the George Floyd / BLM movement and what happened in France? Let’s revisit that conversation tomorrow I’m heading out in search of red chinook for the rest of the day
Given the lack of January 6th footage in the backing montage I’d say he’s chosen which kind of protesters he has a problem with. If it was apolitical he’d show both. Instead he knows what his base wants to see and who his base has a problem with.
In light of the commercial success that Jason Aldean enjoyed with his last single , here’s his latest offering ; a collaboration with famed British band , Skrewdriver.
It goes without saying that in no case should the imagery or lyric content be misconstrued as having racial overtones.
