Random piece of trivia I found out tonight.

What is the connection between the song Marc Almond and Marc Bolan?

World Mental Health Day.
This is on the money. Stunning

The mighty Priest just released a new song Panic Attack to Spotify a few minutes ago.

Fuck me they still rock hard. Halford incredible and I rate Faulkner. Love it.

Still not released on Tidal. :frowning: Can’t wait to hear it. I have to admit, I didn’t expect it will be as long as six years between their latest albums.

I think they just played Vancouver a few weeks ago… I missed it.

Just heard the new track - Halford has absolutely no right to sound this good at this age! This is Priest, alright, albeit with '70s prog influences and more solos than I expected. Production is perfect, thank God for Andy Sneap!

This rather confounds my theory that legacy bands that keep going long enough turn into tribute acts of themselves. It’s definitely Priest but it’s also rather good.

It became obvious after Firepower that they had struck gold with Faulkner and Sneap. I was pretty saddened and disappointed with K.K.'s comments on Faulkner that were like “yeah, he’s a massively talented player but when I saw how he looked, I thought they just wanted a clone of me”. The guy’s a guitar wizard, he understands and elevates Priest. Sneap’s attention to detail makes everything sound perfect, metal community should be happy to have him. Yeah, I can’t bloody wait for the whole thing to be released.

First impressions , liked the song.

Painkiller x Turbo vibes there with the continuation of the musicianship/production from Firepower.

I’ll be very interested to know if Halford can pull this song off live (especially the high shrieks).

Speaking of which, just saw KK’s priest last night (Paul DiAnno opening). Great to hear some Maiden and Priest classics. Ripper can really bring it in terms of the 80s/early 90s era Halford voice.

Amazing vocalist, no doubt about it. I honestly don’t know how he can keep his voice in shape like that. Should have had a bigger career, I’ve always felt that his stint at Priest actually did him more harm than good.

He is a top top high range-style singer. I’d love it if he teamed up with Jeff Loomis and restarted Nevermore

Oooh, you’re opening a can of worms there, mate! I wouldn’t mind to hear their tribute act to Sanctuary/Nevermore or a whole different band altogether but Nevermore without Warrel is quite a bit like Type O Negative without Peter, in my opinion at least.

No I agree to an extent. Kind of how I feel about Alice In Chains continuing without Layne Staley. Will is a more than able replacement but Layne is legendary!

Being the idiot that I am, I actually refused to listen to Black Gives Way to Blue back then when it was released because I was convinced that AIC had turned into another money-grabbing nostalgia act and I didn’t want any of that. It took quite a while for my friends to convince me otherwise.

Now I consider it the best album that they’ve released, with The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here becoming my second favourite. Will is amazing, he’s a natural, and I’m glad that Jerry picked him because of his personality and ability and that he wasn’t looking for a Layne clone (which would be impossible anyway but you get my point).

I don’t listen to too much maiden nowadays but there are a couple of killers songs that are on my playlist.

The problem with ripper era priest was the composing. Priest just didn’t make good songs.
