Their best since Painkiller, I don’t even know how many times I’ve played it. Andy Sneap killed it as a producer, as he so often does. I won’t say I’m looking forward to their next because I don’t want to jinx it.

absolutely. They absolutely killed it there. Fuck , metal gods for a reason

Ta very much. I like the film version better than this live one though.

fuck , i’ve got my running song…on continuous repeat for an hour of my running

I’ve only listened to their album as a passing…and this HAS FCKNG BLOWN me apart…

Sadly, true. Here’s the studio version (I think the one used in the film):

I’m actually in tears now. Just wish Halford’s vocs was strong enough to do the “only the brave” bit more…

but fuck , what an amazing amazing song by an amazing amazing band.

I think I posted the entire album in the music thread on TIA.

It really is the best heavy metal album since the 90s. It is shockingly good. And I say that as a man that like Iron Maiden slightly better.

The last two decades for sure. I’d even rate this ahead of the Brave New World album by IM but then that’s just me being a Priest fanboy. It’s almost like Priest decided to delete everything that happened from Painkiller and then came up with a Painkiller mark 2.

Heck, Would have even been on par or better than Screaming for Vengeance , Defenders & Painkiller had Halford’s vocals been close to his peak.

Brave New World is the album that actually got me into metal music, I think it was the first full heavy metal album that I listened to.

Sigh, not another exorcism to be cast over this thread!

A pair of beauties here from Byrne, and Eno and Byrne from their 80s experimental/score works.

This was really good.

As many of you know, there is a genre of heavy rock pretty much unique to Scandinavia (well, bands from other countries exists, but almost none of them get the “mood” or and atmosphere and pretty much suck). Primarily Norway, but also Sweden and some in Finland. I am of course talking about Black Metal. Never been my thing to be honest, although i respect some of the bands a lot due to their obvious great skill.

However, I have a always had a weakness for Immortal. My favorite band in the genre. They are simply awesome musicians and create some incredibly unique music that just makes you breathe frost smoke. It is so damningly cold (and this is what the foreign bands never get, the winter frost, the cold, it is not enough to be critical of religion, you must also instill a sensation of cold winter in the listener, and only then can it be good Black Metal imo). Anyway, I far prefer this genre to more noisy genres like Death Metal and Hardcore. Can’t stand that crap, just growling and hitting drums hard, lacking all the beautiful execution of proper Black Metal (this is opinion though).

I don’t think I ever have posted music from this genre on a forum before, but here it is, Immortal-Beyond the North Waves. An incredible song in my opinion. Sons of Northern Darkness is an amazing album, and again, I say that as someone not really liking extreme metal music.

And that was a tiny, tiny selection of their catalogue. Probably the best ever band in their genre.

@Barnestormer shall now have to execute a proper exorcism., the previous one tempted me into posting this !

Probably few appreciated the fantastic band I posted above. However, you ought to at least appreciate this, best closing film music ever made.
So I give you this because I try to be kind, so you can dream for a few minutes:
