One of the best anti-war songs ever recorded. Obviously even more pertinent now.

Timmy Thomas died today , aged 77.

A beautiful and calming space that I needed this morning

Something a bit different to the type of songs I normally post or listen to - a very openly religious song. That said the funk and soul vibe is ver mellow and excellent in this song, and is well worth your time. Give it a listen.

Currently listening to this because I’m a bit pissed and this feels good when one is a bit pissed. Not pissed off I hasten to add. Quite happy. Think we are going to win the league!

A bit of Motorhead always feels good - pissed or not pissed

So tonight I found something completely and utterly awesome. Orumurin Lange with all 86 verses !!!
The entire ballad. A ring dance, which is a form of dance with song which mostly died out in Europe when Christianity arrived. It is associated with Paganism. They still dance and sing versions of it in Lithuania and…on the Faeroe Islands.
This is Ormurin Lange, the entire song made up of 3 separate recordings (usually, people on the faeroese Islands don’t sing the entire song, since it is kind of a long tale).

Have a listen if you have the time. This sort of stuff belongs to another age and has virtually died out in Europe. The song itself is not so old, from 1830 actually, but is regarded as the most famous still living version of a ring dance on the Faeroe Islands. I have been looking for this, but not until tonight have I been able to find it in a complete version.
It is kind of longish so grab a couple of cups of coffee or a beer or two and have a listen. It is well worth it, it’s a good tale:

Last song in Peaky Blinders. Think the whole Gypsy spirit is captured in this. Amazing and unusual voice.

I was dissapointed that Red Right Hand didn’t feature, but this is haunting.

Makes me wonder what a Rammstein version of Enter the Sandman would sound like.
