On this day in 1962, two British cultural phenomenons were released on to the wider world. The Beatles released their first single, “Love Me Do”, and the first James Bond film, “Dr. No” was released at the cinema.
Quite a coincidence really.

As we know, all such lists are subjective… but, jeez, there’s some utter shite on there.
I’m amazed she’s still around tbh. An irretrievably damaged human-being.
lol , you’re not wrong there
A couple of real gems though , including this from Young Fathers , who I’d kinda forgotten about ;
Liverpool confirmed as next year’s Eurovision host (on behalf of Ukraine). Think it’s the Echo Arena or whatever it’s called now.
How wonderful! Congratulations Liverpool❤️
Nice song. Her whole album, Citizens, is quite good.
Rosalia’s new album, Motomami, is astonishing.
I was reading an article the other day about one of the world’s biggest bands, Blackpink. Never heard of them? Neither had I.
So, obviously, I searched for them on YouTube and found their latest release. Musical taste, as this thread amply demonstrates, is subjective but this is so bad that I wouldn’t wish to inflict it upon anybody else.
Who am I kidding? I love torturing other people…
Come on. That’s not so bad. Hard to believe that those are actually their voices, though. One does have to note the South Koreans have turned music into some weird pop art form of child abuse.
It’s fucking terrible. Like, Spice Girls level of terrible.
As long as they keep the bitters as far away from it as possible it should go alright!
I really don’t like those accents they really sound contrived. That ‘style’ does seem popular over the last decade with Adele and Harry Styles as examples. i presume it’s very difficult to do that ‘infinite vibrato’ my ears don’t like it I prefer vibratos to be used very conservatively.
I don’t think it’s aimed at the likes of you, or I, really. It’s just trashy, disposable pop music. It’s interesting though, that the Koreans are better at imitating American pop culture than their counterparts in Japan are. Maybe it’s because the Japanese do it with just a little soupçon of self-deprecation.
When I grow up I want to be able to rap the words as fast as this guy does…
But then you grew up and realised that rap is terrible.
Kind of agree with you on the overuse of tremolo and vibrato. Faouzia is a Canadian from Morocco. If you listen to the entire album, she’s putting some of that vibe into her singing, I believe. She has limitations as a singer, but she puts a lot of emotion into what she’s doing.
How about this version instead?

And continuing on the theme of poets who did music, here’s Bob.
