Love that FFD tune
Recently rediscovered a few artists I hadn’t listened to in about 10 years. This one used to really strike with me, not only because I love Ghostpoet’s style but because I was stuck in a relationship that had long since passed its sell by date at the time (and would be for another two years ).
The video is pretty genius.
felt the same way about this song. these albums got me through some dark times.
On the emo vibes…
Great album. Love the story telling throughout.
Guessing we will be hearing a lot of this over the next couple of weeks.
For anybody familiar with the Northern Soul genre of music , here’s one of its most famous tracks , covered by no-one less than The Boss himself !
Mmmmmmm Frank Wilson sounds better…only my thoughts…reminds me of Wigan…
They’re still arguing now , fifty years later about which one of them ‘discovered’ it !
And now the sound of thee Tainted Love…on a whisky advert i think…the Gloria Jones version…
There was a time , not that long ago , when there seemed to be a bit of a fad for northern tunes in advertising.
Here’s the Visa ad which used Come On Train , if you remember ;
Good sounds…
Did you used to go to Wigan ?
I surely did…
It had just closed down when I started getting into Northern through the scooter scene. I still love it even now.
Here’s a real treat for you if you’ve never seen it. Paul Mason who used to be the chief economics guy on Newsnight , also used to go to Wigan ! He made this brilliant documentary for the Culture Show.
Aahhh the memories…back of a Lambretta 250…RS Rayspeed…the buses to Wigan…
The music…the dancing, the sounds…brings it all back…now I’m reduced to Cd’s in the kitchen blasting out…just to Turn My Heart Beat Up…if you didn’t go to Wigan…I don’t think you’d understand…oh the sounds!!!..
Nice scooter … nice tune. Those were the days.
Didn’t know so many Northern soul fans on TAN😍
I fell in love with this genre after hearing a few songs from film soundtracks, out on the floor, original version of TaintedLove and then i was more curious about Northern Soul after watching a documentary on it. I saw 2 films based on the time when Northern soul was at its peak. Then i started buying their compilations. I even bought a Northern Soul teashirt.
For you @Wilkored08
Keep the Faith.
