Respectfully , that’s a stupid thing to say. It’s sometimes hard to remember now , in the age of gangsta rap , that rap / hip hop grew up out of the tradition of protest music and the civil rights movement.
RTJ sing about anti-materialism , poverty , racism and social justice. You might have gleaned that had you actually listened to it.
I don’t have any problem with what rap is about (well, before the genre started glorifying violence and misogyny). Grandmaster Flash, Sugar Hill Gang, Public Enemy, etc all had a powerful message to send, as relevant today as it was then.
It’s the execution that I find terrible.
So, with all due respect, don’t presume to know what I think or why I think it.
I wasn’t being presumptious but calling all rap wank was clearly inaccurate.
That was surprisingly good. Not exactly my sort of thing but that appealed to me.
Here’s something for @cynicaloldgit
I know you meant to say Last Christmas too!

quite a nice crowd on this
I think this is the Christmas that I am officially “over” Fairytale of New York. Seems to have lost all its charms to me and is getting to be just really gratingly annoying.
The best Christmas song is Stop the Cavalry.
Fairytale of New York will never get old for me. First heard it in the hostel in Aussie 19 years ago and it’ll always remind me of Christmas Day on Coogee Beach eating fish & chips calling home to my parents.
Stop the Cavalry has always been gratingly annoying in my opinion.
I like:
Least favourites are Christmas Wrapping and that Paul McCartney one
Okaay … worst ones ever it is then !
Only my thoughts…but this man …only ever appears at Christmas…new album!, old songs and hopes his senior fans buy it…not a chance !.
This is a classic
I’ll see you and raise you a shower scene
** author’s note ** my son was born to this song on a cold wintery day in Dec 2014. true story.
Brilliant scene. Still cracks me up when she realises she’s not alone.
Beautiful
