The Music Thread

A few have dabbled with one release which is fine as a one-off self-aggrandizing kind of ego feed plenty of the rock fraternity need. As composers, of the three I mentioned, Zappa’s orchestral music is taken most seriously and could be described as on the fringes of modern music repertoire. Elvis Costello’s opera Il Sogno has its detractors and hasn’t been performed anywhere apart from the premiere I’d imagine, but I think it’s not at all bad. Jonny Greenwood is transitioning from Radiohead guitarist to Classical label owner and award winning composer in the minimalist school. I mean his classical pieces not the soundtrack work he does. Those scores are the best around in the film music world currently, I’d say

Shame on you. Can’t believe cardiffpete has been forgotten already.

I know I’m probably going to be blasted for this but I loved this performance on AGT a couple of years back

ohhh the shame, the shame. the horror
I’ve just watched AGT on Youtube.

Quite good but I shall raise you one Voodoo Child on the Ukulele. I honestly nearly bought one after seeing this the first time. He also does Billie Jean (Michael Jackson)

I loved this performance, I was astonished by the way he incorporated classical music, flamenco and System of a Down influences, among others, into one instrumental. I remember being a bit disappointed by his follow-up performance but not because it was inferior but because I didn’t like the song selection. I couldn’t play like this even in my dreams, incredible talent.

Not the Hendrix ukulele cover! Astonishing what can surface during an international break.

I preferred the now deleted video where he set fire to the uke during the performance…

Well I’ve grown tired of ripping into City and United this week, plus I’ve been trying to play guitar again so I was bound to spill this out at some point. Several Hendrix tunes are on my “ambitious to learn” list. Also know as the “bucket list”

I honestly think its awesome, plus posts with AGT or BGT links should come with a flag of shame and a health warning

We got our daughter a ukulele for her birthday. I’ll have to show her this and let her know what we expect from her

Once she’s got that down I’ll have to get my acoustic guitar out and we can jam together.

Fantastic. (Despite having some way to go on repairing the damage of posting an AGT link)

part of it is it’s astounding what can be achieved what what on the face of it seems to be quite a limited instrument. Lesson to me was…it isn’t!!!

Here’s another example with an excellent side dish of click bait

What is all this discussion?
More music please!

Nice legs, too. I think I heard Dhani Harrison say in an interview that his father always carried a ukulele when traveling.

I thought @Noo_Noo posted it for the legs, could not see or hear anything else worthwhile.

As retribution for you lot mentioning ukuleles, here’s that old chestnut “Leaning on a Lamp post”:

It’s not quite AGT./BGT

But got this reco right about the time when Dolores died

Not a bad attempt, Even if a bit too metal for my liking. The singer’s got some talent.

Not quite a ukelele , It’s called a mandolin

Fast forward to 2:00 if you don’t like the indian style of carnatic singing…

Is comedy allowed in this thread? The reaction cracks me up every time.

This song / video seems to be a right of passage for those doing reaction video’s

Perhaps even more goddess-like. Ana Vidovic, not a classical guitarist with a shortage of male Facebook followers you’d imagine…
