None of the mods have asked me to stop, and it’s been over four years now.

The vast majority of people here know not to take everything seriously; I’m not going to change just for a couple of malcontents.

You’ve only been back 5 minutes.

And?

@ISMF , @Hope.in.your.heart , @Mascot etc, have been here for four years and haven’t raised it once.

Did… did you just call your parents or whatever the fuck the equivalent is?

Anyways, clearly others have issue with it, so just wind it in a bit?

Nah. I’ll still refer to idiots and fuckwits in general.

I have never called an individual poster a name of any description, unless it’s been a joke with someone I know.

Good luck with that plan of attack.

Thanks. :+1:

Truth be told, FSG really needs to support Slot more than ever now…

The failure to secure VVD, Salah and TAA on a contract beyond 2025 2 years ago was an epic failure on FSG part.

Now, we all live in the fear that VVD, Salah and TAA will go for zero bucks at the end of the season with their in-house replacements either being several steps down in quality or not fully developed or just injury prone.

And now, we need to also replace an LB as well.

I struggle to think how FSG can still keep a budget surplus to do a mini revamp…Perhaps, FSG needs to sell some shares to raise some funds…

I agree that the failure to clarify these contract situations earlier is problematic. But as has already been said, you need to be two parties to sign a contract. Obviously, there has been a problem with the players, probably due to the fact that they knew that Klopp was leaving and wanted to see how things would evolve.

I for one am not leaving in fear because they might leave for a free. The club is on a strong foothold financially. However, I live in fear on how well Edwards and co. will replace them IF they leave in the summer. VVD and Mo are genuine world-class players, and Trent, while maybe not at this stage yet, is still an utterly important part of this team.

Otherwise, I think that Edwards and Hughes have done the right thing last summer: let Slot see what he has at disposal, how he can use the strong squad to full effect, and let him see what he needs in order to make us even stronger. Buying a lot of players wouldn’t have made sense. I wouldn’t call this ‘not supporting him’.

Yeah, but that person you’re replying to only crawls out of their hole when we aren’t doing well, to demand that we sign xyz and spend like a drunken sailor.

Not to mention persistently failing to spell Gravenberch correctly. It’s really not that hard.

Are you trying to write Groovybirch?

Grakkers.

I’m intrigued by where people see the club ending and FSG beginning?

Because as far I’m concerned Edwards, Hughes et al are all part of the club not the ownership group and the responsibility for renewing those contracts lies with them.

We’re six clear with a game in hand at the top of the league, so how about we enjoy it?

This commentary about FSGs ‘epic failure’ to secure the players on new contacts is a really basic reading of the situation and really understates the upheaval that has happened at the club, behind the scenes over the last two years - from Ward (and others) sudden departure, appointing a temporary Sporting Director with little power, Klopp leaving, and the club reworking the whole operatation.

It’s easy to see how that time just ebbs away - both on the club’s part (I don’t think the club was in position to award wage structure busting ‘super contracts’ before getting the sporting operation in place) and the players (I doubt the players were signing up with the manager position in flux and no clue if they wanted to work for the new one).

From where we are right now, all three have been offered deals, we’ve heard the older two actively want to stay, and the situation with Trent may be more down to the player than the club - reliable sources have suggested there is a 300k offer on the table, and if that isn’t good enough, it’s valid to ask what would be? ‘Give him what he wants’ is not a sound basis for running a football club.

And ultimately Trent is the right back, and if your right back is on 350-400k a week, that could create problems further down the line. If we’re trying to sign a big striker somewhere down the line and offering the usual 80-120k for new signings, isn’t he entitled to turn round and say ‘I’m the lad who is supposed to be scoring all the goals, and you are offering me a quarter of what your right back is on?’ And this doesn’t even get into the issues we’ll have when the likes of Konate, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Diaz, Jota etc come to renewal time.

This idea of ‘negligence’ really rankles with me - you see it all the time. As if Michael Edwards is getting into the office on 1st January and going ‘Oh fuck - Mo, Virg and Trent are nearly out of contract!’

Yes, it’s frustrating that the club are in this position, but let’s not pretend this is easy. Let’s not pretend this is like football manager on the PC, with a wages slider you can pull around to massage the process. Let’s not pretend that there aren’t loads of knock ons and consequences to consider in any path taken. And let’s not pretend that is fans can throw around accusations of negligence and incompetence without a clue what is going on behind the scenes.

Klopp was only said to be leaving in 2024…To get it sorted by 2022 shouldn’t be a huge ask regardless of the DOF around.

As for the financial side, football inflation has gone thru’ the roof. We paid a nose and an arm for VVD back then after flirting with him for so long. Salah was the gem of the Michael Edwards’ team which LFC managed to secure him at a reasonable price back then…

Failure to find a VVD MKII and Salah MKII soonish will bring this club back to the days of pre-G&H.

The supposed VVD successor , Konate is good but his injury record is mad…The supposed Salah successor is still not found yet as Elliott is better centrally and Chiesa couldn’t catch a break…

Thats quite the jump.
Simply not true and even using it for dramatic effect is nonsense.
