It’s a very minor point on the BBC issue, but as an expat I need them to do better! I frequently have conversations over here about how most of the ‘news’ in America is a waste of space, bought and paid for by billionaires with an agenda.
I then talk about the idea of the BBC, and explain to people that it is like PBS on steroids. Not a fringe thing, but a well funded mainstream thing, for the public good. It is independent and reliable, and whenever it strays from that, it has a mechanism to be held to account.
The ideal for the Beeb is fine.
I just wish they would live up to it a bit better…
