The Owners - FSG

Bayern surprise me. How on earth do they get a higher revenue than LFC? I always thought that there is much less money in the BL than in the PL?

(Edit: they seem to be very good in their commercial deals. Still surprising for me, but shows that we have potential to become stronger in that regard, as most clubs in the top eight of this list topple us, in part significantly.)

In terms of revenue, they received more than double of ours in outgoing transfers 100m vs 50m so that is a difference as far as revenue is concerned.

Yeah you are right, transfer fee results are probably going into the Commercial column. A bit strange, but well…

And of course, what doesn’t appear in there is the revenue compared to the expenses, thus the net result.

Bit wordy for a song.

The fundamental problem with the Bundesliga is that there have been seasons where Bayern’s commercial revenue exceeds that of all other teams combined. It has been a while, Dortmund and Stuttgart have done very well in the past 6-7 years closing that gap, but the fact that the BL has no other teams in the Top 10 is telling. Ligue 1 is worse these days, obviously - however that is not really the comparator that German football would aspire to.

For purposes of the Money League report, transfer revenues are excluded.

Liverpool missing out on Champions League but making the Europa League would cost at least £50m.

There’ll be no centre back then, I’ll tell the fans.

This season is rapidly becoming a very challenging one for the owners. The club seems to be in a right mess to be honest… the lack of performance on the pitch might rapidly have catastrophic consequences for the club’s performance off the pitch as well.

Vote of confidence at least.

Hughes has to go.

that might be a bit too early…maybe the remit was squad overhaul with a two year window…

we dont know.

i think the quality of player brought in is good.

Isak was an absolute luxury whose transfer fee could have funded a Salah replacement, a Diaz replacement, and a centre back

yes. the Isak situation has issues.

just dont know though, maybe they thought they were in a position to strengthen through the centre, then come back to the wings this summer.

either way, i still dont think its as simple as Hughes just fucking it all up.

as with Slot, there are nuances…im not a ā€˜Slot out’ person simple becuase we arent winning games, ive arrived at this position because of the way we are going about everything and the football we are playing…

for me, Hughes gets another 1/2 transfer windows before it becomes a bit clearer about what we are trying to do. (edit…that means 1 to 2 windows, not half a window)

Hughes in the middle of the next transfer window on the phone doing a deal

Edwards walks in

ā€œSorry pal, time to pack it upā€

Bar the Guehi situation I think what Hughes bought has been fine. And as we are seeing from Palace they are inventing another story about McNeil now.

I still don’t see the value in Isak. Also I have more of a problem with who we sold and didn’t replace (Diaz).

my initial reactions on Hughes based on who he brought at Bournemouth…

i mean he paid alot of Bournemouth money to LFC for some standard players…

i was never all wrapped up in his dealings but it felt like they overspent in his time there, he was also just a bournemouth person wasnt he? working his way through the club from his playing days?

i always thought he would go as big here as his leash would let him…

he can still make great things happen here, but there are legitimate questions now being asked.

On their own merit each of the signing has been good. The problem is the holes left behind.

If this was always seen and understood to be more than a one year rebuild, then he is doing OK. The squad is thin and Slot (IMO) has been left without the options he needs to mount a challenge, but if everyone is onboard with that, then both Hughes and Slot will be given time to complete the job.

with the risk of going over this ground again…the squads not perfect, but its not as thin as you want people to believe…but even then…i dont think even you are trying to say this squad is maximising its potential.

its a good squad…cracking footballers…just becuase he cant reach into his back pocket for a superstar doesnt automatically mean we shouldnt be doing a hell of a lot better…

i mean…Divock fucking Origi used to score winning goals for us!!!

And we sign those players over the next 2 windows plus we have Isak. What’s the problem?
