The Owners - FSG

No @Mascot you are not. The increased travel mean more emissions for staff and fans for what could amount to dead rubbers. At a time everyone is being told to cut back it seems like a do as I say not as I do.

There’s a good chance it will do as the money generated by the big clubs won’t filter down to the smaller clubs. Is it the responsibility of the big clubs to be concerned by this or is that the responsibility of the governing body in england?

I hope they don’t have any of the premier league referees.

@Mascot. If this goes through and the carbon footprint enlarges it will speed up global warming. Then we won’t have to worry about playing in Europe because it will be flooded /s

Probably be even worse I expect these games will start to take place further afield after season one, it wouldn’t surprise me if the opening game took place in America.

Unbelievable that this is happening. 100% this is about money, but I’m not blaming FSG for commiting to the new league. Clubs are operated as a business entity, and all wants to maximize their revenue. My only beef on this would be if the owners pocket all the extra revenue that they generate from this new super league. If all the clubs use the extra money to reinvest in the club, but more importantly in the community and the grassroots level of football, then I would support it.
UEFA is just and FIFA is just another corrupt organization, nothing more. Everyone is just looking out for themselves when money stops flowing.
I do wish if the super league does materialize, is that they open up more spots for non founding members to participate. This allows smaller teams to have something to strive for and benefits from, and maybe turn them into a bigger club.

At a domestic level this only affects who gets into the European places at the end of the season. It will always be the same 6 which is unfair to teams like Leicester, West Ham and Everton who could potentially break that dominance on occasion and put themselves into the top tier of European football.
FIFA only gets affected because of how the European team going to the club world cup is decided, although whichever way that happens going forward it will probably be the same team anyway.
UEFA are the organisation which loses out in all this. The Europa league can still go ahead as can their 3rd competition but they will lose the prestige and the money which they get from the biggest and most lucrative club competition in the world and that ultimately is what it comes down to.The big clubs want to cut out the middle man (UEFA)who gets a huge chunk of the cash the clubs generate.

This Means More, means nothing. We’re just another one of them, and we secretly always have been.

Yeah come on. Silly slogans and video hype packages all just fuel the great machine. Anyone thinking we were somehow “different” or “special” is just naive. The game is all about money and has been for a very long time.

The United statement being on the Liverpool website doesn’t really sit right with me.

Nice to see John W Henry is too busy to add his own statement to this piece so we get one from the Man Utd owners instead on our own website

We had no money to buy a centre back and this was being planned all along, greedy bastards.

Why buy a centreback to qualify for a tournament you’re not going to play in anymore?

We will see, if they kick out the big 5 and spurs the league is fucked. :grinning:

What’s fucked is that with our guaranteed Super League spot, unless we think we can win the domestic title, we have absolutely nothing to play for. We could decide to sod off the league by Christmas to focus on trying to win the ESL.

Meanwhile, the other clubs are all trying to finish top half to get into the CL. It’s a farce.

We could still play our second eleven in the premier league.

Absolutely no interest in this to be honest. Feel like this will be final nail in my already waning love for the sport.

The European Super League just seems like another step on the carbon footprint ladder. I don’t see any evidence that reducing the carbon footprint has been much of a concern in the growth and development of the game along the way to this point.
