The Referees or The Twelfth Man (Part 2)

Is there any truth to the rumblings that Madley’s in-game audio has been reviewed, finding an instance, during the Madueke/MacAllister forehead kissing, that VAR advised giving yellows to both players, but Madley vetoed giving Madueke a yellow, knowing that it would be his second, and instead chose to give the yellow to Timber?

The thing that angers me about this is not that he’s a cheat, but that’s it’s so poorly done and he doesn’t have to care because he’s knows the refs will give him everything regardless.

If I was a ref and a player tried to win a free kick from with this I would feel so disrespected I’d make it my life mission to not give him anything ever again

24 years ago. I had a great relationship with a referee. we used to chat about non league football and stuff. He refereed a game I was playing in and out of the corner of my eye i noticed he was looking at a different part of the pttch.

With no one around me, I threw myself to the ground and yelped. I got a free kick. The other team didn’t even complain. They seemed perplexed and in shock.

To this day i am ashamed of that moment, whilst it is a funny anecdote for some, I used my close bond with the referee against him. I never did it again.

Edit: A few games later, it might have even been the following season, I was kicked through in the box and nothing was given, even the opposition players agreed i’d been fouled, I called a different referee “a fucking joke. you are a fucking joke” i was incensed… he replied " a joke? I’ll show you a joke" put his hand in his pocket and sent me off - red card.

Might have been karma

this is correct

The milner incident i referred to happened in a 2-2 draw in 2021. It was hurting my brain so i had to look it up.

And now Dale Johnson is doing pieces like ths…

I saw that. The timing of the piece is spectacular. Do you think they had this waiting in the locker for the next time they screwed us over?

Ah ok, there was an incident that went out way in a game 5 years ago that may/may not have altered the result.

I had it in my head that it might have been the same game as the twice! I’ve rewatched it and Guardiola had a similar episode on the touchline, that’s why, perhaps.

If Everton were a bigger club and/or it was crucial to the outcome that non-penalty decision for the assault on Barry yesterday would be getting a lot more attention. As it is, it’s being ignored.

I’ll give them the same amount of sympathy their fans gave us on Sunday. The square root of fuck all.
To mimic them there was minor contact.

And of course no mention in the piece about his participation in the UAE trip. It’s all so tone deaf and incoherent (the media frenzy was tough, now give me attention with a splashy profile) that its difficult to conceive of this being simply bad journalism.
