“This Referees name is Matt Corlett he refereed today’s game between Crewe and Walsall, on 11 mins the crowd started applauding for a young Crewe fan who had sadly died.
When the ball went out of play for a throw in, he stopped the game from restarting and joined in the applause encouraging the players to do the same, what an incredible gesture, massive respect from me, he will not get any recognition for this human act of respect but it wasn’t missed by me”
@sandsoftime highlights a moment of decency and humanity.
The crass comments that follow have sadly subtracted from the original message. Maybe its good to know the room. This is about honouring a kid who died.
Could you have left it so without commenting on the refs weight? Is it so important for you to be the cynical old git that you couldn’t just say something like well done.
My point is that this ref did something unusual and heartwarming to honour the child.
The same thing with @Flobs to be fair. We can see he doesn’t look like the standard ref template, so why did that need mentioning?
Again, maybe recognise how he did something decent.
On a similar note, the amount of goalkeepers who throw the ball, and you can see that the ball has not been released before ball and hand cross the 18 yard line.
Only time I’ve ever seen a foul given for it?
