I don’t know about the rest of the world, but for the entire month of August, Berlin is invaded by millions of wasps. They make eating outdoors an impossibility and even having a coffee is risking life and limb.
It’s a real pain at the nicest time of year.

Well won’t go Berlin in August, we tend to get them late August into September mainly in beer gardens. They love Cider.

Wasps get attracted to our fruit trees. As we are away on holiday at the moment, I expect to return to a garden full of windfall pears and a scene out of a Stephen King adaptation.

Airport parking pickup and drop off charges they are a complete scam. This year I have dropped off and picked up family twice at Manchester Airport. First time I was in a long queue of people carrier taxis all trying to pick up and load luggage whilst in the queue for the two exit barriers. Through no fault of mine it took so long to get out I was charged over £20. I did appeal and after several letters I did eventually get a refund. The other day I went 30 seconds over the minimum allotted time (5 minutes) due to having to get two young kids out of the car along with push chair and luggage.
A friend of mine who is 90yo got a £60 fine recently as he thought the barriers were up because they weren’t working but they aren’t there now as it has recently changed to 24 hours to pay. I presume because of complaints about the crazy traffic queues that were the norm before.

The news as framed.
Airports in general are a complete nightmare. Even if the airline shows you a complete price, that’s just the half of it. You have to get there which is either a mess of public transport or you pay for Airport parking and a hire car at the other end. Airport parking is often more expensive than the actual flight and even the train ticket from Manchester to Liverpool costs €30 a pop.
Oh yes, also factor in that the last time I went though Manchester Airport security, some twat helped themselves to my spare change.
I’ve gone back to travelling by boat. It means allowing for an extra day but you turn up there, the staff are pleasant, you don’t get abused by security, and having a couple of beers and enjoying the entertainment is actually quite enjoyable in itself.

I have the joy of being about 40 minutes from Heathrow on a bus service so I’ve never had these issues, though I don’t drive anyhow.
