Meanwhile…
Hopefully we will start to see governments around the world rejecting these annexations.
Kazakhstan already did.
Regarding the situation in Lyman: I wonder how many Russian soldiers will find themselves encircled in the coming days, possibly hours. Any ideas, someone?
Didn’t Russia bail the regime out there recently too , like they did with Belarus ?
I think the ‘Reporting from Ukraine’ dude said he expected it within a couple of days. I haven’t heard anything though with regard to how many Russian troops are still there.
Two to three thousand apparently with a couple of BTG worth of equipment. Either way, that equipment is already lost I think. Ukraine has fire control of the route out and they’re not going to let them leave in good order.

Putin addressing the Kremlin on annexing four regions of Ukraine. This feels incredibly scary.
What’s the response? Arm Ukraine to fight the Russians in those illegitimately annexed areas, so they can try to get their territory back?
And at that point will Russia consider it a direct attack on Russian soil?
And will Russia then be more likely to deploy a tactical nuke?
And if this comes into view, what is the position of NATO?
Let them have it? Or respond in kind, but obviously massively risking nuclear escalation?
Edit:
We really need the Russian people to rise up en masse to stop this. I have long since thought they are key to stopping and removing Putin.
“There is no Soviet Union, the past cannot be returned, and modern Russia does not need and strive for this. People living in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye become our citizens. Forever and ever. We call on Kyiv to negotiate, but we will not discuss the choice of the people.”
Putin’s choice of words.
It’s worse than I had hoped for. Tripple All In…
It does now feel as if a major escalation is now inevitable. I don’t think it will be long now until NATO is directly involved.
I don’t know what to belive, but yeah, I don’t like that the Kreml regime is doubling down on absolutely everything and just burning all bridges possible. They are super all in. Which means that Russia will fight until disastrous defeat, which will take a lot of time and blood, or grind out a win eventually. 2 bad options for everyone. And then you have nukes. Which are supposedly used if you lose in Russia. But when you have tripple doubled down and claimed the territories you fight for as Russia, then I don’t know what this says about nuclear doctrine and willingness to use it. My rational mind says it is doubling down on bluff but it also creates a new political reality and is a massive escalation.
