The Russian Invasion of Ukraine (Part 2)

It is interesting to see how many Indian supporters there are for the idea of these referendums, either for Putin’s or Musk’s recent idea of doing them over with international observers - in either case invoking the idea of self-determination.

Presumably they see this as a viable basis for resolving the Punjab issue and Sikh nationalism as well.

I think they are just generally happy to be able to grasp at straws so the can be pro Russia. Indian media is Pro-Russian and India is full of people like that guy on this forum who is full of excuses for Russia.
I don’t think this support for Russia has anything at all to do with the Punjab issue or Sikh nationalism. This is just an excuse so that support for Russia seems rational and more valid.

Of course it doesn’t have anything to do with the Punjab situation, they are not for a moment thinking how catastrophically bad such a precedent would be for India.

Musk is becoming too much of a Barnum and Bailey showman.

Early on I liked him and enjoyed his rise. But increasingly over the years he comes off as erratic and spouts some crap for such a clever chap.

With his massive platform he meddles in things that are not in his lane, and it’s not on. War is serious business, and shouldn’t be resolved by Musk on his tweet machine.

I don’t think there are necessarily things in and out of someone’s lane. One could reasonably interject in a field where one does not have the most expertise, as long as it’s associated with the requisite humility to recognise the complexities.

Unfortunately it’s the latter part that’s missing here.

I think the outgoing Ukranian ambassador to Germany, Andriy Melnyk, had the best response ;

"“Fuck off is my very diplomatic reply to you @elonmusk” he tweeted.

It’s pretty amazing that we’ve gone from worrying that Russia would crush Ukraine inside 24 hours, to warning Ukraine not to beat the Russians too badly or it’ll hurt Putin’s feelings.

He’s playing with his brand(s) and just enjoy being front and center of everything.

I’ve refrained myself hard to post anything related to him, as it’s just not worth it in this context and I think it’s some kind of trolling.

Yeah but they would all have voted to be part of Russia, for sure! FAKE TEARS!

Here’s a thread on the Kherson front and how things are going to be bad for Russians.
