An interesting insight in what happens for normal people in Russia, and also casualty numbers, which are frighteningly high. Only for 2025, the estimations are roughly 80k dead Russian soldiers, for an estimated 300-400k since the war began.
Finland withdrew previously on january the 10th. Sweden thinks about it (everyone on that border thinks about it).
Landmines are Force Multipliers and the 90s and early 2000s were times of hope and naivity. No one really (naively) thought that we would REALLY need landmines, which is a highly problematic weapon post war. But the fact is, today the Ottawa Treaty looks a bit insane (mines are one of the reasons why Ukraine still has not been conquered, after all)âŚ
Militarily, mines donât destroy that many troops compared to other weapons, but it slows down territorial advances significantly.
As there actually seems to be some slight interest in the war, I can get back to posting but will stop again when interest fades (i.e. I get stuck on 10 posts for days, biggest indicator ever that no one is intersted at all).

@RedWhippet You are very welcome.
This is the kind of post (Konrad) which will explain a bit why this is possible in the context of Russian communication problems (starlink going down and Kremlin banning Telegram and discord).
Notably, you should take note that few serious sources use the term counter offensive. Most use the term counter attacks. A lot of people misunderstand, thinking it a large planned offensive. Itâs not.
(It IS about coms as well, but the guy has a very valid point as explained by other sources above).

Russian infantry and army HQ is concentrated in the town of Huliapole, which is large enough to have a lot of basements. Ukraine losing that town a while ago was very fucking bad and a lot of people feared the frontline would collapse.
